97 Ford Exployer is first started, dash lights blinks on and off
97 Ford Exployer is first started, dash lights blink on and off for several minutes. I turn the headlights on, and it stops flashing but keeps doing the ticking noise for another minute or 2.

Sounds like an alarm system that has the horn disconnected,so when you start the vehicle it trips the alarm then resets itself after awhile .see if there is an aftermarket Alarm system under the dash and remove it!

Low oil pressure switch is designed to cut off engine to prevent damage. If you are sure oil pressure is good when light starts blinking, replace pressure switch. Idle position sender IDK.
With the light flashing ,codes are stored in the transmission control module . Have the codes check an this will tell you whats wrong . Probably a sensor or shift solenoid or line pressure solenoid .
thier is a switch on the peddle about 6 in up this may be pushed out of bracket or bad push button by hand if not it maybe bad abs could many things cheak wires to every wheel that fixed mine had broke wire
not sure but in the newer cars the ground wires seem to be most important becouse the ecm is working through the groung side. i would start by finding ALL the grounds and cleaning and tighting them
