Seat Alhambra 1996 1.9L water leak drivers footwell

Massive water leak into drivers footwell. Checked by pouring water down windscreen - nothing happened, but half an hour later footwell again covered in water. Rained today and another 1.5cm at least above the carpet. Carpet above pedals dry. Door metal below plastic inside of the door is wet, but can't imagine if it could come from there, especially as the water was poured down the windscreen. Listed under Volkswagen Touareg 2004 as no listing for Seat Alhambra, which is VW. Any help would be welcome.

The water can travel along surfaces or beams in the car so you cannot tell where it is actually leaking. in my ford windstar water leaked in right over the fuse box. it ran along a cross beam from the passenger side. if it has those plastic strips they use to go in between small gaps in the metal... like along the roof where the roof is and the metal of the sides joins it is likely they are leaking. best to take a garden hose and have someone inside the car with a flashlight on the floor looking for leaks

Check the drain from the air vent behind the hood. Also the heater hoses. Modern windscreens are not usually a sorce of leeks.

My 07 grand vitari is leaking water in passenger side from dash foot area please advise .thanks

Easy one this, Remove the footwell carpet (Just un-pin it from the poppers and roll it up best you can, hold with tape if needed, you just need to get it clear of the footwell) Then dry the area with a towel. Get some kids waterbased paint (orange is good, shows up better) and coat the entire area (Dont worry it comes off with a wet rag). Let it dry then get a hose and go crazy! hose off the outside area, underneath, anywhere the leak is lightely to originate. Any leak inside the vehicle can be traced via the darkened now wet orange paint! simples!

If its the passenger footwell its almost always from the windscreen seal, Older Vits had a big rubber plug in the floor pan, these sometimes came loose!

If you do narrow it down to the windscreen, a word of caution. Dont try to simply spread mastic over the original seal! the leak will be from underneath this so applying anything on top is just a waste of time! The Guys at autoglass ect replace windscreen seals for a hobby. Next time you see a van driving around have a word with the driver. Most wont refuse a cheeky twenty quid for five mins work! Thats how I got mine fixed!

I have water leaking into both drivers and passengers footwells in my Suzuki Grand Vitara. Heater matrix seems fine and the washer bottle pipes seem fine. Have checked seals on door panel. Again, fine....

Does it have to do with the AC. I had a similar problem with my vitara and they said a washer was prob loose in the ac system which would cause the water to leak to the footwell. Mine was only the passenger side.

Pool of water in footwell behind drivers seat.

Is the water only in footwell behind driver seat? If yes, then have you checked the weather stripping around rear door (assuming that it is 4 doors)? My brother had the same problem, and behold it was the stripping around the door. If you find that is the cause, standard household weather stripping added to door frame will work well.

Water in drivers side footwells front & rear

What about a leaking heater core... If the defroster is on and your winshield fogs up temporarily when the car is first started, that is a good indication of a heater core thats leaking water inside the car... Have that checked, Im guessing its your problem..

Water leaking in on passenger side footwell . just bought the car from dealer .took it back for him to sort out .. dont want to be fobbed off by him, so any ideas what the cause could be i would be...

Hi, the water entering the passenger side could be either due to a leakage in the drainage tray at the bottom of the windscreen or a leakage through the window of the passenger side. Remove the carpeting and try pouring water on the windscreen to check. Also remember to leave the doors open when parked in a safe place to allow sunshine and air to dry up the interior. Cheers

My 1992 xj6 (xj 40) 3.2 auto leaks a large amount of water into the front mat wells. It seems to be dipping down above the pedals on the drivers side and at the back of the footwell on the passenger...

Have the windscreen resealed. A tempory fix is to tape around the windscreen joint with a wide PVC tape to prevent the ingress of the water.

Renault megane scenic ( t-reg)

The sunroof drainage gets blocked.

your footwells will fill with water - even under your seats right to the back seats footwells

See two 10mm holes in front sides when sunroof is open.
a) push a flexible cable down from the top - it comes out just behind the front wheels. (use electric three core cable - or TV aerial cable - a hanger is too short) - you need about a metre and a half)
b) remove the inner mudgaurd behind the front wheels (2 screws) you will see the end of the plastic drainage pipes - remove the blocked black rubber cup at the end of these - why they are there is anybody's guess)
