If there is one its under the dash someware around the clutch peddel arm, it should look like the breaklight switch with a spring loaded pin that pushes in or relieses out( depending on witch way its set up) when you depress the clutch peddel, or it could be under the hood, either way its got to work off the clutch peddel.

I have a 1987 GMC truck with manual trans and in order for it to start I have had to press very hard on the clutch then it starts. Now it won't start anymore, how do I bypass the clutch safety switch?

replace the clutch switch or temporarily you can unplug it and jumper the 2 wires together. make sure you tape or cover the jumper wire so it won`t short out. you can try to adjust the switch as well.

Trouble shoot 2500masda truck that won t start after I replace clutch and slave cylinder

Did you reconnect the wires and re-position the clutch safety switch at the clutch pedal assembly? If this switch is not positioned or connected correctly it will not allow the truck to start.

Why won't it start?

There should be a clutch safety switch that prevents you from cranking the engine with the clutch engaged.
Have you checked the switch for power ?

'03 2.5L Ford Ranger Standard Trans, Engine at times won't turn over, does not click, battery is fully charged.

Neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal may be going out. Its a $15 fix. It tells the computer if the clutch is engaged. If it goes out its like trying to start with out pushing in the clutch, wont turn over at all. Hope this helps.

1999 Ford Escort ZX2 won't start

It's called the clutch start switch. Yes, it could be bad or needs adjustment.

Push the clutch in and the switch closes contact, so power flows from the ignition switch start position to the clutch switch and on to the starter motor-well, actually to the starter solenoid on the starter motor. If you have a voltmeter or test light, you can test the clutch switch . A red and white wire to it and a red wire from the switch to the starter solenoid. When this wire gets to the solenoid, it is a black wire with red stripe. It should have voltage when key is held in start position and the clutch pedal is depressed.

Depress clutch turn key dash lights up. No click no nothing

you may have a bad clutch switch which will only allow the car to start with the clutch pedal depressed.it allows power through the switch only with it depressed to start the car so you won`t start the car with it in gear causing an accident.there will be a switch that the clutch pedal pushes against that allows power to flow through it to start the car.there should be power on one side with the key turned on and power on the other side with the clutch depressed.
