    have vehicle scanned some auto stores such as auto zone / advanced auto do it for free the trouble code give u a place to start

Anytime your Check Engine light illuminates, you have an issue that needs to be diagnosed. The Check Engine light does NOT come on to remind you of any service intervals.

If I were you, I would take your vehicle to your dealership, an AutoZone, or a place like that, and get the car's computer scanned. Once you have the code(s) stored in the computer's memory, we can help you out better. Anything else would be pure speculation, as the light can come on for over 100 reasons.

Oil light came on? Yikes! That's about the worst thing that can happen to the engine. Don't try to run the engine or you will completely ruin it. Can you check the oil level or have someone else check it? Did something happen that would have caused the oil to leak out of the engine (like going over a curb and bottoming out)? Did you have someone or a shop change the oil? Maybe the oil drain plug wasn't properly replaced.
Get the proper type and quantity of oil into the engine before you try anything else. Good luck and I hope it's not too late.

Hi! My 1999 Cadillac Deville for about 2 weeks started messaging low refrig-ac-off. Check engine light on!.
When you change your oil is up to you,you set the
months & miles you go. Any car with a reminder
for oil is just a gadget

You were told that your low on a/c refrigerant by the
message

Now the check light related or not has to be addressed,
by checking for codes & diagnosing the effected system

Your a/c system needs repair,not added to, only to leak out
& polute the atmosphere

Wht could be the problem with
Routine in that check lights have been on all
vehicles for some 31 years now ?

Yes there is a real problem when an OBD2 system
check light comes on & you should have had it checked
for codes already & either given them to us,looked them
up on the internet or had a repair shop determine if you
should even be using the car until diagnosed & repaired

Oil changes are due when you decide to do them,nothing
else involved there

I wouldn't go over 4,000 miles,that would be changing your
oil 4 to 5 times a year

If you have an owners manual, the question may be somewhat answered in there

DID YOU KEEP EYE ON OIL LEVEL.REBUILD ENGINE WILL USE UNTIL RINGS BREAK IN. YOU NEED TO DO A OIL AND FILTER CHANGE AFTER 500 MILES. YOU NEED TO DRIVE ENGINE ACCELERATE LIGHTLY AVOID FAST QUICK ACCELERATION IF YOU DROVE ENGINE HARD DURING BREAKIN PROCECC THE CLATTERING NOISE COULD BE BROKE PISTON RINGS.CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL AND COOLANT SYSTEM MAKE SURE ENGINE NOT OVERHEATING OR IGNITION TIMING OFF.LET PRO MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT.

your oil change has nothing to do with your check engine light. probably needs spark plugs and a coil or 2

I belive they didn't reset the oil light timer. I belive the sequence is 1. key on (not acc with engine off)
2. step on the brake pedal 5 times within 10 seconds. 3. key off. 4. start car. 5. check if the light went out. you may have to try it a few times to get it.

Oil light goes on...had a dry stick 4 1/2 qts put in. no oil on ground. after oil change light went on at 70 miles.. on 15 secs then off for 5 miles then on again 15 secs--- off 4 miles--off 3 miles- off 2...
if it's not going onto the ground, and it's not being burned, check the positive crankcase ventilation and the exhaust gas recirculation valves for oil seepage...also check your air filter, if its got oil on it replace the pcv valve.

A message stating service B in 500 miles
Service B means that there is a major service due. Brakes are not related. You will get a break warning light when they are due. The B service includes Oil and filter, Interior dust filter, Tire rotation, check of all the fluids, Lubricate all door and trunk hinges, and engine air filter. Also brake flush every 2 years.

Just like any other car.

Drain the oil from the oil pan.
remove the filter
put a new filter on
replace the drain plug (very important)
Put in 5qts of oil
