I have a 2006 Chevy Equinox. The heater stopped working

I have a 2006 Chevy Equinox. The heater stopped working, was told it is a temperature door issue and would cost $1200 to fix, is this a common problem? I am completely frustrated.

I had the exact same problem with mine, it happened a week after buying the car. It was very frustrating as well. The cost sounds right for a shop to fix it. I had a friend that is a mechanic fix it on the weekend. It cost half, but still took 8 hours of repair time. I have received a letter from Chevrolet offering to fix it, it came too late for me to utilize. Good luck, if you'd like a copy of the letter, I would be happy to send you a copy.

Heater does not blow hot air do i need to change thermostat and how do i do that it is a 2006 equinox

Hello: Before you replace the thermostat, check the temperature door (air mix door) actuator. Make sure it is working. It should be on the passenger side of the heater case under the dash. Make sure the linkage moves when you move temperature selector on dash from hot to cold.

My ac works fine, but my heater has stopped working. It blows air but doesn't get warm. I went to a dealership and they told me it was the baffle air deflecter, and it would cost about $600 to fix. So i...

NO. you may need a "temperature door actuator" thats a problem when the service people call it one thing and the parts people call it another. The first dealership should have given you a written quote, that way you would have part numbers, ect.

How do i know if the temp blend door is broke?

Change the temperature of the air and see if the temperature changes. If it doesn't change, then you probably have a bad blend door.

My heater stoped blowing hot air.antifreeze level

If the blower is blowing air just fine, but you cannot control the temperature, you need to listen to air coming from the vents while turning the temperature from hot to cold. If you do n ot hear any change in airflow, then you may a temperature door in the dash broken. this is becoming a common problem on the Equinox and Pontiac Torrent,
