First, make sure you are talking about your mainanence required light, and not your check engine light.
Your maintanence required light is telling you that some normal maintanence is required since you have traveled some pre-determined number of miles (pre-determined by Honda). For example, it could mean an oil change should take place, etc. If you keep track of those things on your own, then you need only reset the light, as follows:
Turn off the engine.
Press and hold the Select/Reset knob (odometer) in the instrument panel, then turn the ignition switch just to ON (II). Do not start the car.
Hold the knob for approximately ten seconds until the indicator resets.
Hope this helps you.
Just as a matter of information, the following refers to the way the maintanence light works:
For the first 8,000 miles (12,800 km) after the Maintenance Required Indicator is reset, it will come on for two seconds when you turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Between 8,000 miles (12,800 km) and 10,000 miles (16,000 km) this indicator will light for two seconds when you first turn the ignition switch ON (II), and then flash for ten seconds.
If you exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km) without having the scheduled maintenance performed, this indicator will remain on as a constant reminder.
