How to get out of a Limp Mode?

1. Don't panic, remain cool and calm.
2. Bring your car in an uncrowded part of the road.
3. Bring the automatic transmission into "PARK".
4. Turn off the ignition switch.
5. Wait for 10-20 seconds.
6. Then turn on the engine.
7. Shift the gear to anything you want.

It's probably in limp mode .turn engine off put in neutral restart see if selects gears if not.use scan tool to remove error codes.if not disconnect battery 15 minutes but when u disconnect battery without power unit to your radio you may end up with locked radio if you don't have code u have problem if you can't get it from holden

you need to diagnosis the reason first you changed the engine and doesnt seem to have been problem ---limp mode can be anything from computer sensors transmission etc

first option is to have the fault codes read
limp mode is activated by both the engine and transmission sensors
going to limp mode so quick could be an overheating problem , transmission vss/tcm problem or ECM fault
by reading the fault codes , you will get a better idea of the problem

With engine off tap the accelerator pedal several times on and off quite hard , this will free up the electronic mechanism that controls the amount of fuel going to the engine.Now start car ,your engine management light(usually yellow) should go out and the limp mode of car will switch off and resume normal driving.If still in limp mode will need error codes deleting from ecu by garage.

check the oil level in the sump, coolant level, coolant temperature (overheating), transmission oil level if auto. The limp mode is energised by any number of sensors that register a fault that is detrimental to the engine/ gear box. Run the fault codes and repair any faulty units . Reset the CPU with a scanner .

try replacing the TCM with a known good one for test

"Limp Mode" is determined by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). It could be going into limp mode as a result of a transmission malfunction or it may be going into limp mode as the result of an engine control problem. The only way to find out is to scan your onboard computer system and retrieve any engine or transmission fault codes and diagnose and repair accordingly.

Please note that engine control problems can CAUSE transmission control problems. If there are any engine control faults, these MUST be diagnosed and repaired FIRST.
