Hydroflourocarbons is normally what vehicles fail for.

What it means is, your emissions system has a weak link. EGR valve, O2 sensor, catalytic converter, EVAP system; these all have a part in the recirculation of the expended fuel when it explodes in the combustion chamber and creates the "drive" for the car......in easy understanding terms....your engine is burning the fuel and the exhaust created from it is not being filtered properly. You are polluting the air according to the emissions testing people.

These are the common problems/parts.

How many speed sensor's are there on a 99 Dodge Dakota sport an were are they located

There is an ABS wheel speed sensor located in the rear differential.
If this fails it affects the ABS and may cause your speedometer to read erroneously at speeds under 25-30 mph. There is also a VSS located in automatic transmission housing. Manual trans vehicles don't have this. They use engine rpm to determine speed as there is supposedly no slippage in the manual drive train.

How do you test the EGR system on a 95 dodge Dakota with a 3.9v6 & automatic

You can test it with a vacuum pump

I would be say if new spark plugs, new air
filter,new or clean rotor & cap,synthetic oil,don't take care
of it,you will need a new converter

Don't forget the oxygen sensor may be old as well

Clean out all leaves & dirt between the condenser
& radiator & make sure it doesn't over heat

The converter may be blocked as well as worn out

1999 dodge dakota Abs light on and e-brake light on. Speedometer doesn't read untill 25 mph

The speed sensor that controls the speedometer is located in the top of the rear differential housing, this is your most likely problem and is very common with this vehicle. Being that it is a direct input to the ABS module it will cause those indicators to illuminate when the sensor fails.

sounds like the speed sensors. there are 2 of them. High and low speed. run about $20 each and are VERY common on dodge's. if you get a code 25 that is the problem.
