Loud Intermittent Buzzing Noise Jeep Cherokee Sport 2.8 CRD 2005

I have a Jeep Cherokee Sport 2.8 CRD 2005 with automatic transmission.
The vehicle runs and drives but when I turn the ignition off, it
makes a loud intermittent buzzing noise which continues for approx 1/2 minute (about 5 or 6 times) and then stops.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I have a 4.0 grand cherokee 2000, when shifting reverse gear , it makea a loud sound (TUK). But there is no problem in driving and gear shifting is normal.

Some vehicles with automatic transmissions have enough slop to create this noise normally. If the problem just started or has become increasingly worse, it could be due to worn universal joints. The universal joints couple the drive shaft to the drive axle and the transmission on 2-WD and to the transfer case on 4-WD. Another noise that comes from worn universal joints is a squeeking sound at lower speeds. A vibration could also be noticed with worn universal joints.

Will a 2000 4.0 from a jeep cherokee sport replace a 2000 4.0 in a jeep grand cherokee?

Yes...both are identical. Only thing I'd check further on is if one has a manual transmission you may have a different flywheel flange or will need a pilot bushing if the vehicle getting the engine is stick.
If both are automatics...no problem at all.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee makes a lot of noise when selecting Reverse. Forward gear okay. Now, reverse doesn't work and it sounds like the transmission is coming apart.

Your automatic transmission has an internal low and indirect clutch. The indirect clutch is what's used when your vehicle is in reverse. You might have a heavy jerking when you put it into gear that feels like vehicle got hit by another or loud rattling or chattering in gears. It very well may be coming apart as you think and soon, so I'd recommend taking it to your local transmission shop to inspect and test it and they can give you a more detailed idea of what it would take to fix it. good luck

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Problem

I would start by checking all the fuses under the hood.
There is a fuse called IOD which the factory leaves out and gets put in at the dealer.
That fuse could be bad.
