Front drivers side disc brake on 2001 dodge stratus. put on new rotor and brake pads. Get up to around 5mph it makes a noise, until brakes are hit. accelerate the noise starts again. outer brake pad is loose. What is problem?

things that have to be checked during a brake replacement process
the caliper pistons have to move back easily when fitting new pads
the caliper body has to move freely on the mounting pins to allow the centralization on the disc rotor
the brake bleeder nipple has to be opened when pushing the pistons back as the displaced fluid build sup pressure in the reservoir
check that the fluid level in the reservoir is not above the full line
check the brake master cylinder is operational and compensating ports are not blocked
basically the problems is that the pads are in contact with the disc and that is generating heat. that heat expands the brake fluid that has to be allowed to flow back to the reservoir
if the expansion of fluid is prevented either by over full reservoir or faulty mastery cylinder preventing the free flow back to the reservoir then the expansion applies the pad more tightly to the disc which in turns creates more heat and more expansion of the fluid
At this point and before you do anything else ,my steps would be to flush the system out using metholated spirits by filling the reservoir and then bleeding each wheel until clear fluid came out
when this is accomplished any black junk in the system is removed
fill the reservoir with new brake fluid and repeat the bleeding process until only brake fluid comes out
Metholated spirits is compatible with brake fluids and is recommended for the purpose
having cleaned out the system and ensured the free movement of the calipers on the mounting pins the pads should be in light contact with the discs and hubs should spin free after brakes are applied and released
In practice pads always touch the disc as there is no method of pulling the ads back and it is the air friction between pad and spinning disc that gives a minute clearance when travelling and if that ability is not allowed then the problems that you have will result

I would check the rotor and brake pad for the driver side.

Check the rotor and brake pad for excessive ware.

I assume just the front brakes?
You will need brake pads, brake cleaner, a small packet of brake grease, a large 4 inch C clamp, and possibly new rotors if the old ones are bad (abnormal wear or it they are out of spec).
Start by jacking up the car one one side after placing the car in park and putting the parking brake on. Remove one of the front tires. Now spray the brakes/caliper with the brake cleaner so that you won't be breathing in brake dust particles and this will help clean up the parts (try not to get the brake cleaner on plastic parts). The brake caliper holds on the brake pads with two large bolts that will be parallel with the axle. Remove these bolts. You should now be able to pull the caliper and brake pads off of the disc/rotor. Make sure not to wreck the brake line that runs to the caliper. Take off the outer brake pad. Now take the C clamp and use it to slowly depress the inner brake pad and caliper. Make sure you have the old brake pad on so as not to wreck the new one. Once depressed, remove the brake pad and put the new brake pads on. Make sure to then grease the two caliper bolts and reassemble the brake assembly. If you replace the disc/rotor, spray it first with the brake cleaner to clean off anything left from manufacturing. Repeat on the other side.
Make sure to pump the brakes before driving. Let me know how this works out for you.

jack up the car take the wheels off the caliper which holds the pads need to come off usally 2 bolts if you are replacing the rotors you may have to hit them with a hammer to break the free if they have little clips on the rotors you can grabb the clips with pliers and take them off you do not need to replace them make sure you push the pistons on the calipers back in clean and lube the pins and the any where the rest on the knuckle do get lube on the rotors put it all back together do the same on the otherside before you start the car pump the brakes until a good pedal then you are good to go i hope this helps you

take the tire off and the brake rotor see if u have room to hit the studs out with a punch and then to reintsall them put the studs in the hole tighten witha lug nut and washer

The high pitch sound may come from the brake pads as metal parts hit the disc to signal the owner that it needs change. The metal parts gets exposed when the pads have worn out. The brake also has a hub to cover the disc. See if the metal plate is hitting it but this issue would appear when the wheels are in motion. Check if it is the belts, have the tension checked out. Other than that the bearings are the other items on your wheel that could cause a high pitched sound when you car is in motion.

you have a half shat going out or a wheel bearing going bad or the brake pads are wearing out and you have a warped rotor.

The hard part is pressing the caliper piston abck into the caliper so you can get the new, thicker pads over the rotor. A large C Clamp works best.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Pads —Front Disc Brake Removal

1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04 .

1. Remove the front disc brake caliper bolts. torx bit. T20?

1. Support the front disc brake caliper from the front strut and spring assembly using mechanics wire.

1. Remove the front disc brake pads.
   1. Remove the outboard front disc brake pad.
   1. Remove the inboard front disc brake pad.

Installation

1. CAUTION: Make sure the master cylinder reservoir does not overfill and spill brake fluid while retracting the front disc brake caliper piston.
   NOTE: It is necessary to fully retract the front disc brake caliper piston in the bore before installing the front disc brake pads.
   Install the front disc brake pads.
   1. Install the inboard front disc brake pad.
   1. Install the outboard front disc brake pad.

Caution. The outer pads are left and right. put left on driver side.

1. Position the front disc brake caliper on the front-wheel knuckle and install the brake caliper pin bolts.

1. WARNING: It is necessary to depress the brake pedal several times to position the front disc brake caliper piston before driving the vehicle.
