If is this a 3.0 12 valve.
The most likely cause is the camshaft synchronizer. This is located toward the back of the engine, it takes the place of the distributor.

How do i get a dead on center

Remove the spark plug of no one cylinder (nearest to the timing belt and alternator pulleys). Use a long screwdriver that fits into the hole so it just touches the top of the cylinder. Turn the crankshaft by hand untill you can feel that the cylinder has reached the highest position. Look at the crankshaft pulley for a mark that should be very near or exactly oposite a simmilar mark on the enjine block. Line up these marks for top dead center (TDC). Should degree markings found to be stamped on the enjine block, the crank pulley mark must be alined with the 0 degree mark.

There is a squeeking noise changed belt and pully still squeeking

It might be the tensioner. This is a fairly common problem. Locate the tensioner, usually located towards the top of the motor. Try to spray some lubricant inside the tensioner. Look for a spot on the back of it where there is an opening. If this doesn't work, then you might have to replace it.

Sounds like serpentine belt is squeeking

If the squeek stops as the motor warms up replace it. You can also purchase some squeek stop spray and see if that helps before buying a new belt

I removed the timming belt of a fiat uno 1983-1985 with out setting it to TDC I know where the cam pully and its mark are on the enjin but can not find the crank pullys mark on the enjin to set it to TDC...

PULL OUT NO 1 SPARK PLUG PUT A SCREW DRIVER DOWN THE HOLE AND TURN THE ENGINE OVER BY HAND UNTIL THE SCREW DRIVER IS AT THE TOP THEN YO WILL SEE THE MARKS ON THE CRANK OR LOOK AT THE TIMMING COVER IT SHOULD SHOW YOU TDC

Loud squeeking coming from the belt area

you'll have to the belt if the belt is old.
also, a temporary solution i learned that gets rid of some of the noise is to slowly pour a pitcher of water on the belt while the car is on.

Engine Squeek

It may be the water pump that is making the noise if the noise is constant.

Major friction/squeeking from serpentine belt!!!!

Keith,it sounds like you may need to clean the grooved surfaces on your pulleys, you could remove the belt and use some aerosol brake cleaner and a stiff brush to remove any build-up on the pulleys.you could also try spraying the same on the pulleys while the car is running, just be sure and wear eye protection and don't get to close to any moving parts.

Skeaky serpentine belt

are you positive the squeek is coming form the belt area?

the squeek can be from several other places, fan clutches can cause a high speed squeek, take the fan off and see if that cures it, the water pump front bearing can also be the culprit but that is hard to figure out without swapping in a new water pump, and lastly look at the AC compressor clutch, see if the squeek changes when you turn on and off the AC

hope this helps,
