Question about 2003 Toyota Corolla

2 Answers

I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla and electronic key system has only locking button. The unlocking button is lost and I was told I need to buy one online. Last night after coming home I have locked with electronic locking button and doors got locked. Today I have opened the door manually with the key and tried to start the car. It automatically triggered the theft alarm and red light besides steering is blinking continuously. It disable the car starting. The alarm comes only when we try to ignite the car. But the light keeps on blinking. When we disconnect the battery the blinking goes off, but when we reconnect the battery the blinking comes on. We do not know the reason for this and we don't know how to start the car. I appreciate any advice given in this regard. Bose.

I am having the SAME problem with my 99 Corolla, Still searching for a way to disable the factory security system, for the last two years I have the vehicle hotwired through the headlights to start it. (1 wire to battery positive, 1 wire to starter hot lead, touch them together.) unfortunately this has proven very dangerous as the vehicle will start even in gear, and take off without a driver. additionally, because the alarm is going off continuously, the battery dies if not disconnected after every use. I found the fuse in the relay box that disbles the alarm, and the car starts fine, unfortunately, It it also the fuse for the alternator, so that solution will not work either. If anyone has found true way to disable the system, PLEASE offer your suggestions!

Hello Athar ! I believe that most probably the problem you do have is in your remote key, the locking button. You do need an expert to open it and renew the very small electronic knob ( button )

Sounds like the ignition has run its life course. If the key sticks in it, the parts are wearing out.You will probably have to buy a new one.

Toyota Corolla VE 1999

Ok ,Is there red LED lite in the car for the alarm system? if it's an after market alarm there could be a bypass switch under the drivers panel that you could of hit accidently that would put the system into a valet mode . this switch would put the system into a door lock and unlock mode only. So look under the driver's dash or side kick panel for a switch or button, you would need the car on to switch it back
