95 ram 2500 4x4 wont shift into od

I've been doing research on these vans. Seems I remember that if the OD light flashes >>> fluid level is low. Also, I read where Ford wants you to overfill fluid so as to allow you to go around corners without loss of lubracation. By this time you may have melted it down and bought a Honda. I have a 95 Teal color and just in flawless shape, however it won;t go in reverse. Just follow the hood ornament and don;t look back...right ! ?

what led up to the no start

Check the shift interlock solenoid that it is working. Try depressing the brake while shifting.

My guess is that it is probably the actuator on the front diff. It may also be the buttons. I had the same problem with my 1999 silverado which it turned out to be the actuator.

Check linkage at tranny, the new car use a cable to shift, Sometimes the cable slips within cover due to break in cover or cover ends. remove cable at tranny and shift by hand.Replace cable and see if it has the same amount of travel.

sounds like you've got the a4Od blues save up your money your gonna need some tranny work done soon

the od lite blinking is an indication that the transmission has a fault code find a scan tool and retrieve it so you have an idea of what's wrong and an estimate of what it's gonna cost to fix it

do u have any trouble codes for the trans? u need to find out to see if a shift solenoid (possible 2-3) has failed.

There is no OverDrive gear in the transmission. The fourth speed is achieved by locking up the torque converter while in third gear creating a input shaft to output shaft ratio of more than 1 (the infamous over drive). If you do not feel it shifting three times while accelerating up to 45 mph then there is probably a situation with the torque converter.

Are you getting any codes? The first thing I would check is your throttle position sensor. That would cause this problem. Also, in the valve body of your trans, there is a throttle pressure switch, very easy to replace and it would also cause this problem. If you decide to change the throttle pressure switch get one from a Dodge dealer.
