Wont start, was told that it could be the CPU unit or wiring from the fuse box, Car died on me coming home from work, RAC called out and they said that it was the Cam Sensor or the crankshaft sensor but these are ok. eventually a friend looked at it and said that a fuse in the fuse box had completely disintegrated and burnt out. He thinks that it's the fuse box itself or the wiring coming into the box, says that it needs to go on a diagnostic machine. Will this be expensive and is it worth it? Help!!

    Hi roxy5311, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? Have you tried replacing the fuse to see if the fuse blows again?

SOURCE: Check Engine Light - 02 Sensor bad

usually the first O2 sensor inline is the one that's bad.it's the one right off the exaust manifold. this is due to the extreme heat. it get's. but before you go and replace it check to make sure that the plug it's self is not bad

What engine is in this vehicle? I assume the avalon would be a 3.0L or similar V6 engine. Bank 1 sensor one indicates one of the primary O 2 sensor controlling a/f ratio. Sensor one bank one would be the sensor located in the Front manifold, closest to the engine. Hope this solves your issue. I would first check the conector at this sensor for corrison before buying a new sensor.

Are you sure that no water got into the tank? Or into the catalytic converter? I have had alot of cars do this cause I off road all the time. Usually what happens is your intake sucks air into the throttle body and from there your are done tell you drain the oil, change tranny fluid and drain the gas or put a water absorber it in.

Sometimes the alarm thinks the pos. battery cable has been cut so it kills the ighition. You will have to look in the manual to see how to reset the alarm. You may need a code. If its not the alarm, you may have blown a fuse or worse, fried the computer when you put the alt. in. start at the begining. Check the battery cable connections, battery voltage, alt. wires and connections. if the headlighys work but the car won't start, it's prob. not a "connection" problem.

do you know if the ignition box is any good, some auto part store can test the unit.

check the fuse box, your look for a fuse protection, its a fuse, located where the power comes into the fuse box, it sqaure, S-shape, its to protect the unit from shorting out the cars system, everything is dead in the car.
call the dealer ask if this car has that type of fuse, circuit proection fuse.

I am having the SAME problem with my 99 Corolla, Still searching for a way to disable the factory security system, for the last two years I have the vehicle hotwired through the headlights to start it. (1 wire to battery positive, 1 wire to starter hot lead, touch them together.) unfortunately this has proven very dangerous as the vehicle will start even in gear, and take off without a driver. additionally, because the alarm is going off continuously, the battery dies if not disconnected after every use. I found the fuse in the relay box that disbles the alarm, and the car starts fine, unfortunately, It it also the fuse for the alternator, so that solution will not work either. If anyone has found true way to disable the system, PLEASE offer your suggestions!

common honda problem, DON"T buy a cpu first
check electric connections on transmission (4 wires) look for corrosion.
check all grounds (clean and tight)
check circuit breaker fuse in black box under hood(tight connection to battery lead)

Try checking your ground wires and make sure they are not dangling from a few thin copper strands. Also check to see that the wires have a solid connection to the contact points" corrosion, rust, poor or weak connections can cause a weak spark within your distributor. I had a 1989 suzuki swift that was in the shop for 2 months and after hours of research and 300.00 dollars in it could be this it could be that, I went down to thouroughly inspect all of my wiring harnesess and found one that was dangling by a few strands of copper wires. I crimped on a new connector, bolted the harness back onto the intake manifold, turned the engine over and the engine started immediatly! Wish I would had done it sooner! This was after I replaced the distributor, full tune up cap,rotor,plugs,wires and cleaning the fuel injectors. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Car will not start

i am having same issue with a 1994 oldsmobile cultlass supreme and i was told bye 4 different ase mechanic that the ignition swith in steering column is bad.the wires are hair fine and when you start the car the wires turn breaking them.i am going to replace the ones in my daughters car and pray for the [email protected]

Hi...
I read your problem.
Is there a few step to diagnostic or try to fix your car.

Follow this simple steps.
Inspect the RALAY " Starter relay # 47. or interchange with other one just for testing.
1- Check the Fuse " IGN E Fuse number 22 " 10amp. on under hood fuse BOX fron Neutro swicth
And power to the power to the Neutro safetly switch.
2-- Check the Fuse " CRANK fuse # 17 10amp. Under hood fuse box. 12v. from Ignition switch
3- check the fuse " IGN A fuse # 34 40 amp. under hodd fuse box. Constant 12v. to relay.
With ignition switch in ON position.
Crank Fuse only when you try to start. If no power 12v. come when trying to start.
REmove the steering column covers. to get axces to the IGNITION SWITCH.
Trying to start check if 12 v on the YELLOW wire exist. if not. Check if there a 12v on the RED wire
If not Inspect FUSE # 34.
But if there a power on the red wire But not ON yellow wire Trying to start.
Just REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH. Electrical part.

Check the NEUTRO SAFETLY SWITCH. connector under the car. Repair as need.
CHeck the BACK-UP lights, some times come damaged making a short on the Neutro safetly switch. ...
