I am having a problem with starting my 2003 GMC Envoy. It only happens 1 or 2 times a month. It doesn't seem to want to turn over when I turn the switch. I had the battery checked and it is fine. What else could it be. SUV has 76,000 miles on it.

If you live in a very cold region of the world like I do and own a GMC Envoy you will know these vehicles are awful in cold temperatures (-30C and colder). Every winter the vehicle refuses to start, the reduced engine power light turns on and a GMC mechanic gives me a bs excuse for why its not starting. The simple answer is that this vehicle is awful in the cold. When this happens and hopefully it happens at home, I have to get my forced air kerosene heater out,put it under the engine bay of the Envoy, open the hood and tent it with a tarp and let the engine "thaw-out" for about 2 hours, you can also put the vehicle in a heated garage but that takes about 8 hours to thaw that way. There is NO OTHER way to fix this problem. I emailed GM about the problem and their only response was to ask for the VIN number and the name of the 'GM certified' mechanic I was taking the vehicle to. All a load of bs from GM....they know this is a problem and won't do anything to help fix it. My next vehicle will not be a GM while I live in the North Darin
The Change Oil reminder needs to be reset. This done as follows; 1. Turn key to RUN position, do not start engine 2. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal three times within 5 seconds 3. Turn key to LOCK position.
This problem is either one or both of two common problems
The less expensive: 1) your battery terminals are loose and you just need to clean and tighten them.
2)your battery doesn't hold a charge anymore and it will need replacing. More expensive
3)your alternator is bad and it is no longer charging the battery enough.
you should look into getting this looked at by a trusted mechanic, your car may turn off on you unexpectedly while youre driving if you battery cannot keep up with the demand.
Sure sounds like a slipping transmission to me. When is the last time you changed the transmission fluid? Before you go dumping $2,600 for a new transmission, I'd do a transmission fluid change first. If you do change the fluid, use Dextron 6, it's GM's new transmission fluid, much better than the fluid you have now. Not to scare you, but my transmission went out at about 100k miles, so you're doing good if it hasn't been rebuilt yet.
