2000 trooper trans runs fine until it warms up then won't engage at all. Engine reves but won't move

USA spec car ? y/n?
ISuszu, maker. , 3.2 or 3.5Liter engine? or the DIESEL then?
2wd or 4wd?
6VE1 engine GAS, DOHC? twin cam? the tranny is not the same on all. is why I must ask, or the VIN code.
internal leaks on all old transmission get worse HOT as ATF thins hot.
A Borg-Warner torque-on-demand ("TOD") all-wheel-drive system was introduced then.
or GM box.
4L30E four-speed automatic. The 4l30E was fitted with both a "power" shift feature allowing the gearbox to take better advantage of the engine's power by adjusting the shifting nature and a "winter" mode permitting third gear starts for added stability in slippery conditions.

SCAN TOOL 101 USA car, right?
THE OBD2 PORT, DLC PIN 16 MUST BE at +12VDC OR THE FUSE TO THAT PIN IS BLOWN IN any USA CARS.FUSE BOX. FOR SURE.
TRY KEY ON TEST. PIN 16. volts.

THEN USE A SCAN TOOL REAL , 2008 OR NEWER.
NOT A $17 CODE READER JUNK A REAL SCAN TOOL.
RENT ONE?
let me see what is really there first, engine ,,trans and comms

the side of transmission has a side plate tag telling what is there.
the 4L30e box is TCM electronically shifted.,
the TOD box is 4wd only. Torque on DEMAND
The TOD indicator is visible on the left-side of the instrument cluster and displays a progressive indication of torque application, using 3 bars, got that/
see pin 8 jumper trick, for TCM error codes. document ions is rare
Yes 4L30E are solenoid shifted
and if speed sensors fail the TCM has no way to shift right.

A/B kit is 2 parts
the 5 SOL kit is $250

Where does the speed governor on 2002 jeep liberty get its signal from.

SPEED OF WHAT, name IT.?
Why not say the symptoms first
there are many speed controls(govs) on cars.
so I cant guess.
engine rpm & (isc speed reg, gov.)
road speed, called cruise control.
TCM the automatic trans has many speed sensors
some have 1 others 3. and uses the engine speed sensors too
to shift. so what is wrong. first.

all speeds come from a sensor.
so...... ever seen a scan tool and see all that data live ?
get the FSM and read it.
or alldata.com and study that, its all there, every word and process.

Replaced tcm and still wont shift or speed o wont work on 01 pt crusier

Call Chrysler you may have to have them program the trans computer I don't know but it sounds like that. Otherwise check your trans speed sensor it could be the problem

Transmission -does fine until it warms up, then does not want to shift correctly, drive begins flashing.

d flash mans, tranny fault
so scan it. us the obd2 scan tool, any and scan it.
the A/T IS VERY complex, do the tests shown in the FSM
guessing dont work
but in general (experience)
wont shift correctly dont cut it. (200 parts, and 50 was to mess up)
????
flare, skips gears, wont up shift, wont down shift, or shifts wrong speed. what gears work, what dont. just a clue and help goes get better
The tranny TCM can go to limphome mode, this mode is very clear.
and covered in the FSM and
one common failure, that happens with high mileage and poor service (not doing a flush at 50k miles)
is stuck in 1st gear, hot. only.
the ATF fluid gets more thin hot and pump output drops
this is usually a vary bad sign.
the Stall test fails.
the pump pressure test fails, hot.
there is no vacuum lines to this electronically shifted trans.
the ended back 1990(about). with old 3speeds.

scan it, could be something slimple like
the PRNDL shift switch fibbing like crazy. (common)
this car has TCM, a transmission brain.
look for OBD2 DTC errors P07xx (trans)
this TCM (part of PCM) function relies on sensor for shifting
they are:
1: TPS
2: engine INPUT rpm
3: tranny output rpm
4: shift selector.
5: ECT (engine temps)
6: ECU part of the PCM calculates load at all times and sends that to the TCM , so that TCM can down shift on hills, or upshift faster on the flat or down hill.
this LOAD feature is what replaced the VACUUM of old days.

The D light , hopefully is just a bad input (cheap)
scan it. and see, its begging for you to do that.

Is a Throttle Position Sensor the same thing as a Transmission control Module

The TPS ( THOTTLE POSITION SENSOR) tells the engine computer and trans how far you are pushing the gas pedal. Its mounted on the side of the thottle body. It will make the engine surge if it is failing. Have replaced this part many times for this problem. TCM (TRANS CONTROL MODULE) control trans shifting. The tps is and one of the input sensor for shifting.

91 cherokee shifts fine at fist but after a minute or so it wont shift out of first gear. changed the output speed sensor but no change

Sounds like a bad out speed sensor. Are you sure you replaced the correct sensor? This trans(AW340)Has an output speed sensor and a vehicle speed sensor. The output speed sensor is located on the side of tail housing just next to where it bolts to transmission case. The vehicle speed sensor will be about midway of the tail housing or on the transfer case tail housing on the 4x4 models. It may be a good idea to have a tranny shop you trust run a diagnostic and see if you are getting output sensor signal to TCM( transmission control module behind glove box)and take a look at TPS (throttle position sensor)signal when it is hot to make sure you replace the correct part.I have seen bad TPS sensors on these jeep not affect engine drivability because the sensor is really two(one for trans and one for engine)thus the two plugs on the TPS sensor for the automatic Cherokee.Good Luck and let me know if I can help.

P0715 IS INPUT SPEED SENSOR ERROR AND P0734 IS GEAR RAIO ERROR IN 4TH..I WOULD TRY REPLACING THE INPUT SENSOR FIRST..LOCATED IN FRONT OF TRANS ABOVE SOLENOID PACK..CLOSET ONE TO THE ENGINE..SCREWS INTO TRANS..ABOUT 40 BUCKS..DISCONNECT BATTERY WHILE REPLACING,OR IF YOU HAVE SCANNER,CLEAR CODES AND QUICKLEARN TCM..THESE ARE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM
