Sounds like a bad relay, check connection at battery and at display. also display may be going bad also. when display resets do you lose preprogramed radio staitions or time on clock?

I have 2004 x type sports 2.D

I doubt it but advise you to refer to your vehicle handbook for a definitive answer and the correct operating procedure. If in doubt consult the local dealer as it is possible there is a fault.

NOTE: The oil life calculation is set at a maximum of approximately 8,000 km (5,000 miles) or 180 days

  1. Press and release the SETUP button until the message center displays PRESS RESET TO BEGIN SYSTEM CHECK.
  2. Press and release the RESET button until the message center displays HOLD RESET IF NEW OIL.
  3. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds and release to reset the oil life to 100%.
  4. The message center displays SETUP MENU HOLD RESET.

  1. Place the ignition in the RUN position with the engine off (KOEO).

Reset message center window

THIS SHOULD HELP YOU

Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHG OIL SOON light flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle. If the CHG OIL SOON light comes back on, the system has not reset, repeat the procedure. Follow this procedure to reset the GM Oil Life System using the DE 100 Series Radio®. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and the radio off. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed. Press the SEEK up or down arrow to scroll through the main menu. Scroll until OIL LIFE appears on the display. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu. RESET will be displayed. Press the DISP button to reset. A chime will be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be displayed for one second. Once the message has been reset, scroll until EXIT appears on the display. Press the DISP button to exit programming. A chime will be heard to verify the exit.

2007 FORD EXPLORER SPORT TRAC 4X4 Change oil light on

Press and hold the SELECT/RESET
control switch to select SYSTEM
CHECK when “SYSTEM CHECK /
HOLD RESET” is displayed in the
message center. Selecting this
function from the SETUP MENU
causes the message center to cycle through each of the systems being
monitored. For each of the monitored systems, the message center will
indicate either an OK message or a warning message for two seconds.
Pressing the SELECT/RESET control switch cycles the message center
through each of the systems being monitored.

The sequence of the system check report and how it appears in the
message center is as follows:
1. OIL LIFE RESET
2. CHARGING SYSTEM
3. WASHER FLUID
4. DOOR AJAR
5. EXTERIOR LAMP
6. BRAKE SYSTEM
7. PARK BRAKE
8. MILES TO EMPTY
9. FUEL LEVEL LOW (will only display if 50 miles or less to empty)
To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change
[approximately 5,000 miles (8,000 km) or 180 days] perform the
following:
1. Enter SYSTEM CHECK to display
“OIL XXX% RESET IF NEW”.
2. Press SELECT/RESET control
switch to display “HOLD RESET IF
NEW OIL”.

Remove Oil maintenance required message on 2008 Toyota Highlander

This is the reset proceedure for a 2008 Highlander with a key-type ignition:

Turn the key ON, do not start the engine.

Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "TRIP A". If it is on "ODO" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "TRIP A".

Turn the key OFF.

Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it IN.
DO not release it.

Turn the key ON, do not start the engine

Observe the Odometer display. You will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, whatever number that was displayed on "TRIP A" will be re-displayed..

Now release the black trip meter reset stick.

This completes the reset procedure, and it will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change.
