2008 opel (saturn) astra headlight adjustment.
the factory adjusted them too low.
Two screws on each headlight control the direction the headlights are aimed. One screw, usually at the top but sometimes below the headlight, adjusts the headlight up and down. The other screw, located to one side, controls the headlight from right to left. Turning the appropriate screw one direction or the other will change the direction the headlight points.
In order to aim your headlights you need to have a flat vertical surface you can aim your headlights at in front of a level surface on which to park the car. If your driveway is level your garage door is the perfect place to aim your headlights.
The tools you will need for this job are simple. Masking tape is used to mark where the headlights are to be aimed and a screwdriver is needed to adjust the headlights. A tape measure will be necessary to measure the distance of the vehicle to the surface you're using to check the aim and to measure the up and down distances from your marks
It's best to do it under low lighting or during the night
Below is for Halogen Lights. 1. Find a wall and a level surface in front of it. Minimum 36 feet or 11 meters.
2. Place your car 3 feet or 1 meter in front of it with your lights on.
3. Make sure that the car shock absorbers are fine by pushing your car a bit so that it stays steadily on the ground.
4. Measure the distance between the ground and the center of the low beam bulb.
5. Measure on the wall the same distance from the ground up and place a Tape right above that distance. Do it for both lights.
6. Draw a horizontal line with tape between the two (the line should be straight and leveled with the ground. Now you should have a cross right above your center of the bulb
7. Measure also the midpoint and put a small vertical tape there so that you mark the center of your vehicle.
8.Measure from the wall 25 feet or 7.62m and move your car back straight!
9. Now you should see the alignment and adjust so that the lights are pointing 5cm just below the tape.
TIP: You can do the adjustment with a FLAT screwdriver...not only with haxagon tools...
another TIP is to get camera and Take a picture of the wall with the lights on. USE a NEGATIVE or BLACKBOARD color effect and you will see a lot better the adjustment then with the ***** eye
