Need to replace outer door handle on 1997 BMW 528i so need to know how to get inner door panel removed

You will have to remove the inner door trim panel, and more than likely you will find the small rod connecting the door lock to the pull handle has dropped off. Removing the panel is a job for someone with the tools to release the pop studs and clips etc that hold the panel to the door, there are several and possibly screws as well. Take your time and be aware there will be electrical connectors within the door. It may be that you can loosen the panel and have someone hold it while the door rod is replaced. Check that the rod securing clips are in place.

You'll need to remove the outer door panel. There are torx head bit bolts going into the outer panel from the inner door. You'll need to remove the door handle, there is a small pin to remove and side of the door handle. Remove the chrome or black molding at the top of the door, against the window.

remove the handles and door panels you will find the track strip the raises the glass up and down to be broken or stripped ! that can be replaced from a salvage or order one new!

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can remove the inner door handle and replace with new one. If it's your outer door handle, pull back the weather seal and disconnect the linkage to the outer door handle and then remove the bolts securing the outer handle to the door

you need a cable kit replacement. 25 bucks.

google: 1997 BMW 528i regulator repair kit. 97's and 98 are the same, 99's are diff. the same clip breaks in all of them. this guy has invented a permanent fix for it. same work repairing as replacing, only difference is that after repairing it, it wont break again!

I don't think you need to remove the outer door handle.I hope this helps and google search a bit on it and you will get the answer.According to my experience,to replace the window you don't need to remove to outside door handle..Hope this helps.

If it's the outer panel the door handle is held on with a small push pin.You remove the inner portion & then remove the outer part.Then lift door handle up & slide forward.It shoukld come off.1996-1999 Sedan the regulator can be removed with just the inner door trim removed.hope this helps

On your door the inside the panel is removable. remove the screws in the handle on the inside and take it off. Once you get the panel off just reach up in the door and remove the connectors and remove the handle and replace.

outside handle or inside well there are little plastic windows on the trim panel start there then take the inside mirror cover off and then pull at the bottom of door pull out the side and then pull up on trim to take off unhook door switch from botom and then the inside handle is easy from there but if your looking for the outside handle take the vapor barrier of and the take the bolt thats holding the handle out if you cannot then you must drop the lock or latch it has 3 bolt on the outer edge of jamb then you can get the hanlde out its 10mm then go backward the same way
