BRAKES BLED PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR WHEN STARTED

if a master cylinder is bad and you are sure you have all the air out and no leaks.pedal will go to floor , running or not. if booster is bad it will cause a hard pedal. but if master cylinder is bad it will turn on a brake light on dash if it works. make sure the wheel cylinders are not leaking. I beleive that the master cylinder is bad, or you have a leak somewhere. If the master cylinder is functioning properly, the brake pedal will depress to a certain depth and no further.

possible the master cylinder is not allowing the brakes to release all the way. also did you check the slider bolts on the brakes to make sure there not binding? if there new or all the brakes are smoking i would lean towards the master cylinder

I have a 98 plymouth grand voyager. i had to replace the wheel cylinder. after that I had to replace the master cylinder. it was bled and had a good brake pedal. (keep in mind, no lose of fluid) it set...

If you hear air, it is probably a failed diaphram in your booster. When you say you had good pedal, that was with engine off, right. Then, with engine on it goes to the floor. Does it still go to the floor with engine off? If no, it is the booster. Let me know if this isn't it or you have more questions.

i suggest a bad master cylinder, but 1st answer this, when you apply brakes firmly and keep pressure on the brake pedal, does pedal go down while you're holding pressure on the pedal? if so, the master cylinders bad. and also have you checked the vacum to the brake booster?

We had the same problem. It was the master cylinder. There was a recall on some of the master cylinders made for that vehicle. It costs about $80 and is fairly straightforward to replace.

Replace brakes. now they go to the floor. bled air

When you fixed the brakes, did you take the lid off the master cylinder. I just wonder if you spilled out your brake fluid. The only reason the pedal should go to the floor is if the brake fluid is gone or the master cylinder is not working. Check the fuse. Check the brake fluid level. The pedal only goes to the floor if there is no back pressure in the lines between the master cylinder the lines to the brake pistion on the calipers. Please give me a good ratin and keep me informed.

Keep geting air in the back Brake

you need to have someone pump the pedal until you have a steady stream of fluid.and start at the furtherst point from the master cylinder and work forward.
