3.7L>? or 4.0L, capacitive discharge Ignition = CDI
these to use 6 COP coils new , USA spec car. no photos of yours posted, maybe it was ADDED ON later?
built my first one CDI in 1970 ,
well in the uSA we have a thing called EPA that dictates smog rates.
to burn more fuel takes, lots more spark energy, and CDI does that in huge huge way, and 2 of them works better than 1.
just like 2 batteries on a diesel car do better. for the same reasons.
"more power"?
The reason engines use v6, ,six cop coils is same EPA mandates
the reason engines had a 2 coil packs x3 is for same reason and to use not 6 coils but use only 3, and saves money (mfg. cash)
one coil engine' s were banned long ago and its bad actor the Distributor.
you can also buy CDI from famous maker.MSD
what is on any engine, 13 years old is not known by me until seen..
other reasons are using, boosted (say turbo) inducted engines
or Nitros Oxide fuel (racing)
or super High compression ratio's in any way..
CDI produces the most powerful spark of all . even 50,000 volts.
GM calls it high energy ignition but other makers use other names.
I had to guess what you meant by CDI ( spark)
It sounds like the alarm system is on or that you have a relay that is stuck.
1. Press the Unlock on the remote key fob to make sure the alarm system is turned off. Sometimes when the battery has gone dead, it doesn't reset properly, just try again with the battery charged and installed.
2. If that doesn't work, you may have a relay that is stuck in the ON position. You have a fuse/relay chart both in the passenger compartment and engine compartment and can pull the specific fuses/relay for the emergency flashers to verify if that it is the problem. There should be a chart indicating the location of that specific relay and the fuse.
I had the same problem in me 2004 cdi e270. Check the voltage going to the battery when the car engine is on. Stedy charge of 12v should be going in to the battery, if the voltage is volitale say between 11v to 14v then it your Regulator (which is attached to the backend of the alternator). You need to change alternator and then unplug all the batteries over night and re plug them back again. The problem should go away.
The battery is located under the rear bench seat cusion. there is a lead(posistive) in the engine compartment with a black plastic lid with a red plus sign on it. lift up the lid and attatch the positive lead to it. find a good ground like one of the metal eyelit brackets on the engine and connect the negative lead. the most important thing is not to cross the leads
The cowl that holds the radiator in your engine compartment is where you will find the horns. It will be on the left or the right side next to the radiator.
