2002 olds silhouette. Got oil changed. In minutes oil pressure light. SHop says sensure problem don't worry. 50 miles and engine loudly ticking, light back. Is my engine toast??

How many miles on engine? How often do you change oil? Used this shop before? Used same type of oil always? Best would be to install mechanical pressure gauge to see what is going on.

Have a 2006 chrysler 300, 3.5 with loud ticking noise during acceleration, also experiencing loss of power. Replaced both rocker assemblies and performance improved but ticking is still there.

sounds like bad valve seats or seals do you have a oil pressure gauge on your dash.check the pressure.then check your return ports on top of the head thats giving you the problem see if the oil is returning to the oil pan.sometimes the return ports become blocked and the oil stays on top of the head.and see if the oil supply is making up to the head.hope this helps.mark

Oil pressure gauge does not reach 40 PSI. Heard the sounds like a loud ticking coming from the engine on the passengers side. Then pressed on the gas peddle and it didn't want to add power. Ticking n

Not sure if there is a question here or not. If the pressure is always below 40 and you are hearing engine noise, chances are the oil pressure really is low. You could replace the sending unit or use a mechanical gauge to verify.

Engine tick with timing seems off but no check engine light.

If you ran it low find out where the oil is going leaks seal's put a large piece of card board under your vehicle tonite and check in the morning.do not move until you check. As far as the tick that sounds like a bad valve lifter or damage to your engine.

2005 Chevy Trailbrazer. Check engine light and check gauge lights have come on. Now there is a ticking noise coming from under the at idle and while driving!

take to a parts store, advance auto, etc., have them pull up trouble shooting codes from ECM, these codes , could be more than one, will pin point your problems. when engine light stays on , its storing codes, and these need addressed asap. as far as that ticking noise, get out might be a bomb, just kidding

How would i no if i need a oil pump?

If you need an oil pump you will be experiencing problems that are associated with low oil pressure. The most obvious sign would be an oil pressure warning light coming on. Other symptoms would be an oil pressure gauge that is reading very low (if your vehicle is equipped qith a gauge). Valves and valve lifters continuously ticking or loud knocking noises in the engine are some of the more severe symptoms.

My 2001 Chevy Suburban is making a loud ticking noise intermittently, it mostly happens at stop lights, but most especially when I start it in the morning. The oil pressure light and gauge show low to zero...

If the oil light and the gauge is showing low to zero pressure then you need to have the pressure checked by someone with a mechanical gauge to varify the pressure is low. Is the oil level at the full mark? I have seen where the oil pickup tube o ring gets hard over time and cracks which can allow the oil pump to draw in air and cause low oil pressure. If you run the engine with very low oil pressure for any length of time there is a chance that the engine may need to be replaced due to lack of lubrication. The chevrolet dealerships still provide very good service. Hope this helps.

Does the car have a normal oil level on the dipstick? The behavior is consistent with a broken timing belt except for the part about the temperature gauge going to the top which would indicate overheating or a faulty gauge.

Engine knocking, valve ticking loud in engine, when idle or drivi

Make sure the oil level is good, and have the oil pressure check by a garage or someone who can, by using a external gauge to see what the actual oil press is. Low oil pressure will give you the ticking, start there.
