2001 Mitsubishi Montero Limited. 122k miles. Temp gauge is erratic when actual temp is normal. Thermostat was replaced but did not solve issue. Smell antifreeze near back passenger door. Rear heating/ac system. Now heater is blowing hot air only out of driver vents. Please advise!
Replace the temp sending switch that is screwed into the engine. Also make sure the wire connectors are clean. Lea ve the radiator cap off and let the air purge out. Start vehicle, let idle as the system "burps" the air out. You will see the bubbles as this works.
Air in the system try to purge air out there is a screw for it or let run for 15 to 20 min with radiator Cap off fill as needed ...if you have a air pocket jack up front of car so the radiator is highest point can let run heat will push air out
2001 Mitsubishi Montero Limited. 112k miles. Temp gauge is erratic when actual temp is normal. How do I fix this
Hey Flong 850..did you ever found out what to do for this trouble. I am told it is the ECU Cluster and would cost $675 by mitsubishi to have it fix. Would like to have a external temp gauge mounted but my mechanic can't find a way to do this. Any ideals?
replace intrument panal bord
It's a dry soldered joint on a resistor behind and on the instruments cluster. Take out instruments cluster disconnect the electrical plugs. And touch the joints with solder iron. Takes 20 mins. I did my 2002 exceed. And works great. Save yourself hundreds. Nick
also have to push at 3 points around the speedometer before re-installing, otherwise it won't work. detailed pictures to fix the temp gauge erratic behavior and reset speedometer is on the Mitsubishi forum. Google search it!
