New battery but still acts dead - Does computer need to be reset?

My 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 acted like battery was dead. Charged the battery, started up, and drove a few times. Truck sat for month and it wouldn't start. Got a new battery, but still won't start. The interior & dash light flicker while it makes a clicking noise. The starter clicks like it's not getting enough power to start when I turn the key. Does this have something to do with the computer? Does it have to be reset?

Do not suspect computer.
1 the new battery may not have been charged from the store so would need to be charged before use, charge new battery on a charging set and see if this resoves the problem. *or use slave leads and start from a second vehicle)
2 your alternator may not be charging the battery so after a while it will just die. use a volt meter and check that volage is increaseing to your battery when the engine is running.
if not suspect alterantor defective and may need replacement.

2005 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 no bus where mileage is and all my dash lights are on but starts.

CAR STARTS RUNS AND DRIVES.
SO ONLY THE IP CLUSTER FAILS.
next is check all fuses, for sure to cluster. 4 fuse run it. or more. and PTC fuse 2. skip no cab or engine b ay fuses check them all first.
SPEED CONTROLS MEANS ;CRUISE DEAD
WELL LEARN THAT CRUISE WORKS ONLY IF ALL KEY THINGS WORK EVEN BRAKE LAMPS.
FORGET CRUISE TO LAST, fix this only LAST.
cruise can never work if speed is failing VSS for any reasons.

what "NO BUS" means ,I can not guess this,at all.
so odometer is dead but shows what/
blank, -------,.------,?????? or what be clear on this.
all gauges are dead, that means the IP cluster brain can noT communicate.
any scan tool used here OBD2 you will see what fails
it sure will but every poster here 99% fears scan tools
not sure why at all. me.?

start car now and and idle it
use DMM meter measure battery volts
13. to 15vdc is a MUST, if not alternator is dead or its fuses blow or gee both.
if true stop and fix this first or computers in the car will lie to you and go quite mad.
this test is on page 1 of all modern cars chapter electronics failing and testing
the battery must be fully charged
and a good battery
and alternator works fully. tested.
and all fuse tested good.

or as any car battery gets weak near 10vdc
any and all electronics onboard die or go crazy random acts. don't let this happen to you.
if the starter motor sounds fast and robust the battery may be ok.
but if sounds week we change it till it sounds right.
or replace it or jumper cable jump any car with a very low weak battery . to get voltages above 13vdc.

Starting issue. Electrical problem

I had the same problem with a Mercury. It was the starter. Had a bad field winding. When I would try to start the engine the battery cables tried to straighten out. Might take a look at the battery cables when trying to start the engine.

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5.7l Hemi. It started running rough and the check engine came on. I had a mechanic friend hook it to his diagnostic computer and it said that the left bank was misfiring....

Usually you get a code that tells you which cylinder or cylinders are acting up.
The code means the cylinder (s) are not providing power but does not tell you why.
So you have to figure out if it is an ignition, compression, or fuel problem to proceed. Could also be a vac leak.

Wont start acts like battery is dead but runs fine when running (unless chk engine light is off)

It sounds like you have several issues.
1) it does sound like the battery is failing if you have trouble starting it the engine, but it runs OK once started.
2) Your remark "unless the check engine light is off" is confusing. Please clarify.
