You need to confirm voltage to your ignition system. Do you have power to your Ignition coil or igniter? How did you test the Pick up coil? did you check it for continuity? Or did you check it for a voltage fluctuation. If you use a multi meter on the mv scale and pin probe the two terminals on the pick up coil while cranking you should see a voltage fluctuation from positive to negative and back and forth. That will confirm a good pick up coil if it varys in voltage while cranking. You may also want to confirm the engine is turning the cam shaft ( has the timing chain broken?) while you are testing the pick up coil.

1. Verify the coil and igniter do not lose power during cranking as if the ignition switch were bad.
2. Verify the igniter is getting a good ground through its mounting. If all test good a faulty replacement part may have been installed.
The ground wire that runs from the negative battery terminal to the fender gets corroded or broken see if thats the problem.
1. Verify good battery voltage to both sides of the ignition coil.
2. Scope the coil negative to see if it is getting pulled all the way to ground by the igniter.
3. Can also check for about 5 degrees dwell on coil negative while cranking.
The Engine Control Module (ECM) . does not create spark on this vehicle. The ECM can only change ignition timing. It cannot cause a no spark condition. hope i helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you copletly sure it has no spark, hate to sound rude. alot of times it is a relay.
At the diagnosis box located under the hood check for battery voltage on the FP terminal during crank.
Check to see if the check engine light is on key on and stays on during crank.
Check the EFI main relay. At the diagnosis box check the B+ terminal for battery voltage any time the key is in the on position.
This will cause no fuel. hope i help you out as much as possible.
Sorry for sounding like a "brainiac", but it's almost impossible to completly be sure about a no spark condition without a scope...........

Signal comes from the computer on these for the ignition pulse. if no signal,check the wire to the PCM. PCM is prabably bad. Check the fuse box for any PCM related fuse
I am sure you have done this,but have you checked to see if the rotor is turning in the distributor,when turning the engine over?If it is not,of course,then the timing chain has broken.All these parts were new ,I am guessing,if they where used,they might be defective also,but if they where new good,that is out of the way.Did the pick up coil check out good?If so,and everything else is good,then the computer would have to be bad,unless there is a circuit broken,maybe a start fuse in the fuse box.Most of the time,the distributor replacement fixes these models,almost every time,Make sure the timing chain has not broke.If the parts where used,then this tells us nothing.Try another used distributor,with everything in it,or buy a new one,if the parts you installed where used.Let me know some feed back on this,and if this was helpful.

Yes,but to be sure,run a wire to the head,or use vise grips to secure the ground cable to the head,any kind of way to fasten the cable.If the timing chain is not broke,and the cam is turning,then there should be a spark,even if it is out of time,as long as the chain is still turning the cam.
Check the mass air flow sensor to see that it is still plugged up,If this sensor is not working,the truck will not start,try another mass air flow,if you have access to one.and look inside the one on the truck to see that it is clear,and the air filter,to see that it is not soaked or stopped up.
Check to see if there is 12 volts going to the coil,on one terminal,there is really no way of checking the pick up coil,it is part of the module.Make sure voltage is getting to the coil.
Check to see if there is voltage to the coil from ignition,on one side,not to the distributor.if there is not voltage to the distributor,then there is a break from the ignition switch to the coil,or the ignition switch is bad.
It will change colors from the switch to the coil,but it could be res on the igniter,use a test light and touch the terminals to see if either of the wires lights the test light,if not,that is the problem,see if any of the wires have voltage on them,if there is not voltage getting to the igniter,when the ignition switch is turned on,then it is either the ignition switch,or some where inbetween.
O k,then on the check with test light,it should show light voltage from coil to distributor.Now look,at anything low mounted ,where the water could have done something.I am going to do some research for you,and I will return,If you don`t hear from me in ,lets say 15 minutes,email me at [email protected] o k?
I am still looking up some things,in my notes,while I do this,Check the oil pressure switch to see that it is still plugged up.Check the ecm on passengers side kick panel,behind the plastic cover,see if the e c m is full of water.There is three fuse boxes on the truck,check,with the test light,and key on,all the fuses.One fuse box,is under the hood,and one is in drivers side kick panel,the other one is behind the glove box.Check all these fuses with a test light,both sides of the fuses,if one side of a fuse does not light,but the other side does,then the fuse is blown,make sure the test light has a good known ground.I will shout in a few,if you don`t hear from me in about 15 minutes email me [email protected].
All righty then,if you have a tachometer hook the positive from the meter to the negative side of the coil,the side going to the distributor.And ground the tachometer to the ground somewhere,turn the engine over ,and see what it reads,if you do not have a meter,use a test light,and see if it flshes,or dims like a strobe.Get back with me.
You know if this mass air flow sensor is bad,or is not hooked up,it will not run.
There actualy has to be air pulling threw it for it to allow tthe truck to run.

Yes,if the mass air flow is bad,or it is not plugged in,or it is not connected to the air intake,the truck will not start,if you can barrow one to test,would be a good idea,but lets do the testing first.shout at me.

yes, parts were used but from a reliable source. when truck stopped, it was ran through a deep water hole. hasnt run since. Is there any relay that would cause no spark. Also timing chain is good.Thanks.
took valve cover off to be sure timing chain and distributor are good. Question, can i test for spark by putting plug against head if ground wire to head is not connected
no fire coming out of the new coil to the distributer. How do i test the igniter and is there any relay or anything between the switch and the igniter.
no fire from the coil to the distributer. sorry but i dont know how to scope anything. Is there an easy way to test igniter. at this point valve cover is off. hoses are unplugged . Is this going to cause some sensor to prevent spark. also is there there a relay or fuseable link between the switch and ignter. Note, truck quit running after it hit a huge water hole
What coler is the wire with juice from switch on igniter plug
rechecked with a test light. good power to igniter. good power to coil. Low power in wires that run from igniter to distributer.

ok, let me explain a little better. this is my sons truck, he rebuilt the moter. Ran fine until he hit a big water hole then died. He said while rebuilding the truck. you could insert the distributer and turn the key on, and while moving it back and forth by hand you could hear a click like the ecu was telling it to fire.You can no longer hear any click. Does this help? thanks

im in wv and its dark here now. I rounded up a good multimeter and some specs to test however the test you are having me do is not on the list.Question, tacometer. Is this the same as rpm gauge. if not what is my meter to be set on to test this and is the wire you want me to test the wire from igntier to distributer with the plug on it ? Sorry i sound so stupid about this but this electrical **** is alot different than turning a wrench. Will run ohm tests tomorrow and give you the results........again thanks for your time..bob
