Automotive electrical problem

Daniel, If battery is known to be good, could be bad connections at battery, starter/solenoid, or ground on engine/frame, battery cables also could be bad with build up of corrosion internally. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Replaced battery on my 2006 Ford Escape. Still won't start but everything else works

Figure by everything else you mean the radio, lights, etc? Is the engine turning over? What happens when the key is fully engaged? If the engine does not turn over the first place to look would be your fuses. Ensure that none look to be burnt or blown. If so replace and try again. If fuses look good Next step would be to ensure starter connection is good and starter is turning over.If the starter is not turning over then I would focus on it.Hope this helps.

My husband has a 2002 Tahoe and his battery light started flashing while on the highway. He turned everything off, A/C, Radio, etc. The battery meter is reading around 12 volts and he is on the highway...

Good idea to keep everything off. How far he will get depends upon the actual condition of the battery.
If it's the factory original, chances are it may not make it the full distance. If the battery has been replaced, and, it is in good condition, pretty good chance it will go that far. Watch the engine temperature though. If it isn't charging because the belt failed, it soon will be overheating too.

How do i test my alternator to make sure it still works good

Start the engine and turn on all your lights and your a/c blower on high. You should have 13 to 14.5 volts at your battery, if you have less then 13 volts. Then you have a weak alternator or faulty voltage regulator, to test the regulator, turn everything off and check the voltage again with the engine running. You should have 13 to 14.5 volts again, if anything different as to being too high or low, then you have a faulty regulator which is built in to the alternator so your still going to have to replace it. To test the battery, you should have 11.5 to 12 volts with everything off and engine not running.
Good luck and hope this help. A battery older then 4 years may no long be able to hold a charge and will need to be replaced. A bad battery will cause the alternator to fail much quicker then a good battery.

Hi I have a 1998 audi a4 and the blower motor keeps blowing the fuse number 25 once the key is turned on. I know the motor works as I put a hot wire on it, how can i find the short? or fix it with a new...

Hi, first off, check to see if there is anything else on the same circuit, e.g is everything else working with the fuse blown. The cigarette lighter is a favorite. If everything else is ok, use a a multimeter set to amps from the positive battery terminal to the heater motor input terminal (with a suitable fuse in line) to test the amps draw of the motor. You can then compare this with the fuse rating recommended and if it's greater than 2/3 of the fuse rating, then replace the motor. e.g 10 amp fuse 7 amps max loading, 15 amp fuse 10 amp loading.
Hope that helps Matt..

You have a vacuum leak in the engine compartment mst likely. Check the vacuum line from the engine to the firewall and into the vehcile under the dash.
Also check the vacuum storage canister that stores vacuum for the heater controls when you step on the gas. You can just disconnect the hose to the reservoir and plug it temporarily to see if the system workd ok.

Vacuum Reservoir Removal and Installation
  1. Remove the battery and battery tray. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 .
  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose and remove the vacuum reservoir.
