Have to first remove the plastic cover under the windshield wipers in order to have access to the cabin air filter. It is held together by plastic expansion plugs and four torx bolt covered by rectangular cover. Then remove the windshield wiper and presto air filter.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the input! Any hints on removing the plastic plugs without damaging them?"

Location of cabin air filter on a 2004 jaguar x-type

You need to remove the ''pop fasteners'' on the plastic trim cover on the RHD side (looking into the engine) of the rear of the engine bay where air vent slots are visible. the filter is mounted under there, it slides in. Tricky but not difficult.

On my 2003 jaguar s-type v8 4.2 my cabin filter is on the passener side. all help web sites say it is on the driver side. i am having a hard time buying this filter. it looks like the ones all the parts...

If your jag is right drive it is located passenger side

Filters can not be interchanged
Your parts shops must have LHD filters
Check internet for prices, also phone local dealer to compare prices

HOW OFTEN SHOULD THE AIR & CABIN (POLLEN) FILTERS BE CHANGED ON X TYPE 2lt DIESEL ?

These filters should both be replaced at the same time, every 6000 miles or every other oil change. However, the cabin filter almost always fouls up faster than the engine air filter, so maybe every 3000 miles for the cabin.

Jaguar 2002 s type Cabin air filter - engine air intake filter

I'm not sure what the cabin filter is but the air filter is straight forward. With the hood open you should see the air box just inside on the right with the large induction hose going across and to the engine. The top of the air box should open with a couple of hooks or clamps and the air filter sits on top inside the open box.
