It all depends on how detailed you want. The simple way to explain it is to remove the door panel. remove the bolts securing the window regulator to the window glass. Disconnect the window motor electrical connector. Remove bolts securing the window regulator to the door panel. Remove the window regulator. Reverse procedure to install.

Have you checked the door switch?

what I would recommend is that you will have to test the window actuator first. You will need to remove the door panel to get at the actuator. From there, just jump the actuator to see if the window goes up or down. Don't worry about which terminal is positive or negative, they are switched back and forth by the control switches.

The window regulator that holds the glass that the motor moves up and down is probably broke. There are some plastic parts that get brittle and break. I'd say you need a regulator especially if you can hear the motor operating.

Probably, they are real junky on those cars, I know, I have one!! I have replaced 3 of my 4 regulators!! and one motor in the drivers door.

Noises are deceptive at best.

Until you pull the door panel you really can't be sure what it is.

It could be a rusted rail or the window fell off the rail , or, or,o or..you have one of them look and hunt problems.

Most window issues are easily fixed if you have the slightest mechanical apptitude, it won't be that hard.

take the door panel off and see if your regulator is not stripped it is a cable regulator so the wire will be hanging if not try directly operating the motor at the motor and see if it moves up and down fairly easy and fast like new. if it does the problem is in the switch and will need to be replaced. the plug on the motor is a two wire plug and can be hooked up in either direction to make window go up and down.

sounds like your window runners are tight.Just spray some washing liquid into them when the window is down.Then move up and down.

it sounds to me that the cables have broken. it requires installing new regulators. pretty easy once you get the door panels off. follow the bolts. the window is bolted through sashes to the regulator
