My 2001 pt cruiser gurgles when I stop. Have replaced thermostadt, radiator cap and flushed radiator. Doesn't overheat, just gurgles for a little while.
My car was doing exactly the same thing. Turns out it was a blown head gasket. My car was doing exactly the same thing. Turns out it was a blown head gasket.

Ensure coolant system has been properly filled.
Carry out all air bleed operations as specified by the manufacturer- (don't forget to open the heater core supply valve).

check the following: 1.radiator fan motor and fuse for operation. 2. run cooling system pressure test for head gasket, hoses, water pump leaks. 3. pressure test radiator cap. If all tests pass, flush radiator with coolant flush or citric acid for 33-45 minutes
Have a coolant pressure test done. Have a compression test done to check for head gasket/cracked head. Check that cooling fans are working. Have a flow test done on the radiator. Have the radiator cap tested. You have an over heating engine.
Have any of you stopped to think that the Thermostadt may B bad especially after flushing the radiator replacing the heator cor Duh!!!!
Rplace the Thermostadt it will more then likley do the trick.
When the thermostadt goes out you will experiamce hot radiators no heat . ect.... first thing 95% of the people that experiance this replace the heator core first . no that you have elemanated the least obvious do the most
If the heater core is not damaged or leaking ie: if you don't see coolant on the INSIDE of your windshield or coolant on the floor inside the car then chances are you may just need to BLEED the radiator.
remove radiator cap
Fill coolant resovoir to the cold line if the engine is cold from sitting overnight.
Start engine with cap off
Wait till engine gets hot
While waiting you will see a big gurgle of air bubbles come out and the coolant level will drop
Fill the radiator with more coolant to compensate.
When the fans come on and it stops gurgling air install the radiator cap
You are done
Watch the coolant level for the next few days and top off in the resovoir as needed to keep it filled.
Your heat should be very hot now providing you installed the correct oem thermostat correctly.
did you check the fluid level by removing the rad. cap? Radiator should be full to top. If Chryslers are low on coolant, the heater will not blow warm air.
A couple of things. Simplist is to flush & refill the radiator. Collant level could be low. Mine was doing it mainly when stopped a lights or at idle speeds. If I reved the engine around 2,ooo RPM, it produced heat. Once I flushed and refilled the cooling system, problem went away. Good luck!
My car was doing exactly the same thing. Turns out it was a blown head gasket.
