For a Ford Freestyle 2006, on the steering wheel you will find a button that says "Setup". If the steering wheel is sitting straight then the button is on the right side of the steering wheel (not on the horn but the right side of the steering wheel). Turn the key to "on" but don't start the vehicle. Next press the Setup button. From there read the odometer display & it will guide you how to reset the Oil change light. Usually, you will keep hitting the Setup button until you see the oil status which for most of you is going to be 0%. Next you will be ask to hold the reset button located right next to the setup button on the right side of the steering wheel. Go ahead & hold the reset button until the oil percent changes from 0% to 100%, then you are done.

1. Select this function from the
SETUP control for current display
mode.
"OIL LIFE XXX"
"RESET IF NEW"

2. Press and release the RESET
control to display “IF NEW OIL
HOLD RESET”.

3. Press and hold the RESET
control to display OIL LIFE SET TO
100%. Your oil life is now reset.

To set the oil life to 100% without system warnings displayed:
Press SETUP to display “PRESS RESET FOR SYS CHECK”.

1. Press RESET to start the System
Check which will display “OIL LIFE
XX% RESET IF NEW”.

2. Press and hold the RESET until
“IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET” is
displayed, then release.

3. Press and hold RESET control
again until OIL LIFE SET TO 100%
is displayed. Your oil life is now
reset.

Good luck and hope this helps.

This subject is covered in your owners manual! Have you read it? If not, do so. If you don't have an owners manual call a local Ford Dealer's Service Department to find out how to do it. The procedure is different for each particular vehicle but usually requires one to turn the Ignition to RUN position without starting the engine and depressing the accelerator pedal a given number of times within a short time frame. Typically X times in 5 seconds or so.

I have a 2005 Ford Five Hundred and the ''wrench'' warning light came on. It is a AWD. What does it mean and what could the probable cause be?

It simply means that its time for routing service and maintenance on your car. This will normally be reset when you take it in for an oil change. 1. Ford has issued a Special Service Message (SSM), stating that the owner's manual procedure is incorrect, and giving a revised procedure. The following is the text of the SSM:

18562 2005 FREESTYLE/FIVE HUNDRED/MONTEGO - OIL LIFE RESET PROCEDURE
THE 2005 FREESTYLE, FIVE HUNDRED, AND MONTEGO VEHICLE OWNER'S GUIDE OIL LIFE RESET PROCEDURE IS INCORRECT. TO RESET OIL LIFE ON VEHICLES WITHOUT MESSAGE CENTER, USE THE TRIP/RESET BUTTON TO TOGGLE THE ODOMETER DISPLAY TO 'OIL LIFE XX%'. THEN PRESS AND HOLD THE BUTTON FOR 10 SECONDS TO RESET TO 100%. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL BEEP WHEN THE OIL LIFE IS RESET.
FOR VEHICLES WITH A MESSAGE CENTER, PRESS 'SETUP' TO DISPLAY 'PRESS RESET FOR SYS CHECK'. PRESS AND RELEASE 'RESET' TO START SYSTEM CHECK. WHILE 'OIL LIFE XX%' IS DISPLAYED, PRESS AND HOLD 'RESET' UNTIL 'IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET' IS DISPLAYED, THEN RELEASE. PRESS AND HOLD 'RESET' AGAIN UNTIL 'OIL LIFE SET TO 100%' IS DISPLAYED. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL BEEP WHEN THE OIL LIFE IS RESET.
