I cannot find the oil filter on my 1997 sonoma....4 wheel drive....4.3 vortec V6. Where is it located and how do I get [email protected] it?

well the oil filter should be located on the rear and to the side of the engine, unless it has an oil cooler then it could possibly be somewhere near the front bumper

Do i have to remove transmission to replace freeze plug on 1996 gmc sierra 5.0 vortec engine

Usually you can get rubber freeze plugs and if the freeze plug that is in the very back is leaking you will see the water coming from between the bellhousing and block - just be sure it isn't leaking above that and just looks like it is coming from the freeze plug between the block and tranny.
I would for sure check with a local mechanic first and let them see if it is just a heater hose or something above it. Usually a freeze plug goes for life.

1997 Neon if the crank sensor was bad would the car just stop running when going down the street? Car run great when just sitting in yard but while going down road will cut off.replaced the following...

change the crankshaft sensor. it's located in the cylinder block, where the alternator is, above the oil filter. make sure the car is cool & raise the car on jackstands. go under the car & find the oil filter & right above it is the crankshaft sensor. take it out from the cylinder block & pull out the red stop clip. after that, pull out the sensor from the wire clip & install the new sensor. installation is reverse of removal. now your car shouldn't stop.

Turns over but dont start let off key and sputters 3or4 times 1998 Vortec 350 Chevy Z71 4x4

The freeze plug you replaced was due to rust or was it pushed out by freezing temperature? These plugs are not designed to protect the engine block from cracking during freezing temperatures, they are there to remove the sand from the block after casting it. I would drain your system completely and flush out the radiator thouroughly and fill with plain water, then run the engine and see if oil gets in the water, if it does and the plug was out due to freeze, then your block is probably cracked, although you could just have a head gasket leak. Oil pressure (40psi) is higher then water pressure (17psi), so getting oil in the water is always more prominent than the other way around. Flush out the system and let me know if oil returns to the water, hope this helps

Oil in the water (radiator) 1996 Vortec 350 Chevy Z71 4x4

i would try to flush the cooling system completely
if I had to guess someone put stop leak in it when the freeze plug started leaking
also check the oil to make sure there is no water in the oil

Low oil pressure

It is a plu located directly above your filter on the oil filter adapter housing.. its about 3 inches long with wires plugged into it.. takes a special little socket to remove it...10 dollars at auto stores for the socket...
