Can you dim your dash lights?Does the dim switch work?Is it part of the head light switch on this model?Check the alternator out put to see if there is 13.65 to 14.25 output volts,at the battery, with the engine running, and the head lights on.If the voltage is not in these spects, replace the alternator.

I had a similar problem with my 2001 chevy cavalier...remove the battery and located the headlight wiring harness underneath the battery tray, it may be corroded, if so the best place is to try the junkyard and find one in tact, once found, remove the old harness by first; Taking the plastic cover of the front, its held in by 8 put in caps, then remove the two screws on each headlight, then use a long flat edge screw driver to pop the clip holding the two lights together. Unplug all bulbs then unplug the harness, pull up the old one and replaces with the new.Note: only start doing the above steps if your headlight wiring harness is corroded

I have a 2001 chevy cavalier. The daylight running lights don't work, the light flickers a few times and then the service light comes on. None of the back brake lights work and none of the back turn...

Just fixed one, check the 16 pin connector under the battery. This one was destroyed from battery acid leaking down over it. It provides current for drl and headlights. It's accessible by removing the battery and the air filter housing. GM wants to sell you a wiring harness for 700. Got a used connector from a salvage yard for 15 bucks.
