Hi. I have a 2003 ford windstar with ford anti theft. While driving ,the engine just stopped and the anti theft symbol on the dash kept flashing,and the engine will not turn over.I disconnected the battery..to no avail.left the ignition key on for a few minutes,,still nothing so I towed the van home and dissconnected the battery cable for the night. Does the van need to be reset and if so how do I do it. Thanks Larry

Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. My info for your security system says starter motor disable among other things. It may be possible with testing to see if starter motor will crank the engine. If you try that, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.
Even if you crank it, if security system problem, it still won't start. You may need a scanner that can communicate with your security system to fix. If you have an obd2 code reader that will read manufacturer specific codes, check for codes.

Hi Melissa , why do you want to do a reset ? Vehicle not cranking over - engine not turning over ? When you try to start it is the red light on top of the dash flashing faster then with key off ? When key off a flash will happen every 2 seconds ! When trying to start it flashes very fast. If having a anti-theft problem the starter will not engage !

Vehicle Immobilized Indicates that the Passive Anti-Theft system (PATS) has determined a theft condition existed and the engine is disabled. This Detected Trouble Code (DTC) is a good indicator to check the PATS for DTCs. Previous theft condition Anti-Theft System failure Theft indicator flashing rapidly or on solid when ignition switch is in the ON position. Check anti-theft system for DTCs.

close the door and put the key in the door lock and unlock the door ... that should stop the anti theft and your van should start unless the battery is bad.

my 2001 ford windstar wont start, i was driving it and completly lost power it would chug like it was running out of gas then had no power,shut it off and it wouldnt start again after that.I changed the mass air low censor,the fuel pump,the ignition switch,relays and fuses the brain box,i have no idea what to change next have any suggestion that could help that would be great thanks

does it have an autostart? if you have two keys (this will only work if you have two) turn the key to on in the ignition and wait till the theft light goes out do this for each key this may fix your problem.

there is no separate anti theft module, it is part of the PCM which is the main computer in the van that runs the engine and emission system as well as the PATS (Passive Anti Theft)

This means that your key is not being recogonized.Ethier the chip in the key is bad or the patts transciever at the lock cylinder. Do you have a spare key? If not you will have to get 2 new keyss cut and programmed.
