I think you have a failed turbo charger, they last around 100,000 miles. Have a dealer confirm this is the problem as the part is very expensive ans most be replaced by a professional to turn out right.
Since you have a "Check light" then the vehicle can be scanned. Autozone, Oreilys, and Advance are several places which will do a free scan.
There may be some pressure "bypass gates" which regulate maximum boost and you may have one that is stuck open. The turbo would add some noise under the hood if a sidewall was blown through. A bad bypass valve would reduce your boost pressure too. Do a scan and see what it identifies.
my 2003 f350 6.0 started to have turbo lag when in a strain and i can give it more fuel and it will blow out alot of black smoke and it clears up does anyon have any sugestions on what it could be
Sounds like you may have turbo failure. The bearings may be bad and running the engine would damage it more if a turbo fin breaks of and endes up in the pistons. If there is lot's of blue smoke from the tail pipe then it's your turbo, if not it could be your boost side pipe clamp or tube gone bad or your wastegate actuator. Good luck and hope this helps
