Many Ford Escapes have power door locks as standard equipment. This system consists of a lock switch, lock actuator and wiring harness. When you depress the lock switch, it sends an electronic signal through the harness to the actuator. The actuator moves an internal piston that either pulls the actuator hook down or pushes it up. The actuator hook connects to the lock rod, which either locks or unlocks the door, depending on which way you push the lock button. While this system won't work with a dead battery, the mechanical lock system remains unaffected by electrical power loss.
Insert the door lock key into the driver's door lock.
Turn the key counterclockwise one quarter turn.
Pull the door handle up until the Escape's door opens. Once the driver door is open, simply open the remaining doors by pulling the interior door handles until the doors open.
This must be one of those disposable guage/can things. Are you really going to trust a disposable guage? If the clutch wouldn't engage at all,and after adding some refrigerant,it engages erratically,it's probably still low on charge.Keep adding refrigerant while the system is running, until the compressor cycling becomes more normal.I like to place a box fan up against the grill to blow air over the condensor,to simulate the air flow created by the vehicle driving down the road. This lowers the temperature and pressure of the high side, allowing the refrigerant to flow in faster. You might also want to put a thermometer in the center dash duct to monitor the duct termperature.
Sounds like you have a problem with your charging system. I would have the battery load tested and have the alternator tested also for proper output. This can be done by your mechanic or auto parts store. If you are a AAA member they will come to you and perform those test at no charge and install a battery if needed for a fee. You can also try to jumpstart the car.
probably a dead or weak battery in the remote. or it will need to be reprogramed for some reason.. you can get that information from the dealership and they are usually good about not charging you if they want you back for real servicing someday. Sometimes you can find out buy posting a question on google saying How do I program remote for XXXXXXXX car alarm.
The battery light indicates insufficient voltage. I would recheck all the battery connections to be sure they are clean and tight. I would also have the alternator output tested, since the light will come on if the alternator is not providing sufficient voltage to keep the battery charged. Take the vehicle to an autoparts store and they will test the battery condition and alternator output for free. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped, Best wishes.
