Nothing. Assuming you are doing a 5000 mi interval for oil changes, drive happy until 30,000. At that point do the oil, drain water seperator (diesel only) ck washer fluid, ck brakes (mine lasted until 140, 000 mi), depending on your schedule- rotate and balance tires, and check battery. VW also suggests to pop off the timing belt cover and ck for cracks, fluid leaks ect.

Your big service comes at 40,000 mi. Oh, and if you want to take it to a professional shop, save the money and aggravation and go to a local v-dub, or foreign car specialist. Avoid the STEALership at all costs.... this is from a former dealer tech...

I was just given a 2006 VW jetta. Wanting to do an oil change on it before anything else. Book says 5w-40. Then says "if need to add oil between oil changes to use synthetic-based oil" my ? Is regular oil...

Hi, the reason for using synthetic oil if need a top up is because the oil in the engine is breaking down over time, and putting the same oil back to top up doesn't mix together as well as synthetic oil does, every 10k sounds about right for a VW of that age, My Golf is 08 and is the same

What is the oil change interval for 2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg edition? Looked in Manual but it says to see the maintenance booklet which I do not have. Thanks!

Use synthetic quality engine oil and factory filter and change oil every 12.000 miles.

A 5W30 will work well.

For more oil information check the site of 'The Oil Guy.'

I have a 2003 Jetta TDI with 90k. Until recently I have consistently gotten 46-48 mpg. Over the past 3 months the mpg has been decreasing. The current mpg is about 30. I change the oil every 3k...

don't know about the MPG it could be a lot of things. I have a 2001 Jetta TDI. You should NEVER change the oil at 3K miles. VW recommends 10K miles for a reason. The Synthetic oil has additives to remove varnish and it does that but it needs some time to replace the varnish and properly protect sensitive engine parts. 3K is oil changes are not a good thing for a TDI......Just use the right oil and change at 10K

What kind of oil should I use for a 98 VW Vento engine???

Use a multiviscosity...10-30w works in all temps well. The lower the number the thinner the oil, which can work better in cold climate, and on fuel economy. If you live in a very hot area, a thicker oil can be used for better protection.
I would also reccommend a synthetic, any brand, over standard oil. It will give you much better protection with less sludge. Always change you oil @ 3,000 miles, unless you are using the extended life synthetic. Even so, check periodically to see if it is still clean after 3,000 miles. Dirty oil will tear your engine down.
An oil change is a job every car owner can do themselves. This way you can get the quality filter and oil your car deserves. The oil and filter can often be recycled at the same place you get your supplies.
The oil pick up tubes in many VWs are small. This tube has a screen on it which can get clogged with sludge and cause a loss in oil pressure.
Good Luck!

What type of motor oil should I use for a 2001 jetta tdi?

There's a few that you can use - but in general

Use Full Synthetic only for the TDIs...

There's various schools of thought after that in terms of 5x 30, 5w 40, even 0w 30 or 0w40

I've been using Castrol Synthetic 5w 30. The original specs for my 2000 Jetta TDI may have been for 5w40 oil formulated for diesels - but with the Synthetics now I think the 5w30 is felt to be the best in terms of what works best in the Turbo

You can probably go every 5,000 to 7,500 miles between changes - a good thing since the synthetic oils are more expensive

by the way, some also suggest changing the fuel filter at every oil change. I'm thinking that's a bit much but others may disagree... maybe ever 15,000 miles for me

How often do I need to change the synthetic oil in a 2003 jetta tdi? and what grade of oil is best?

Change it every 10k miles. You have to use 5W40 FULL SYNTHETIC oil. Not just any oil! You can buy Shell Rotella T 5w40 or Mobil1 5w40 Turbo Diesel Truck oil at Walmart. Both of these oils meet VW's TDI oil requirements.
