We have had a 50'' Philips Plasma TV for 17 months. There was a cracking sound and then the screen went blank, even though the sound continues. What could have gone wrong. What sort of repair is needed , any idea of the price involved

I drove into a puddle and my car stopped. I went to have it checked and they told that water went into the engine and that it should be replaced. the cost is 48500 dollars. Is that normal?

That's a lot. I would get a second opinion. When the same thing happened to me, the water caused my ignition coil to crack, and not send spark to the plugs. $50, though it took a long time to diagnose.

Enough water to lock an engine and damage it sounds pretty unlikely. Does it turn over? I would pull the plugs and give the starter a spin. If water fountains out the plug holes, it's just possible major damage was done. If no water, I'd be seeing another mechanic.

1987 Volkswagen Transporter campervan, petrol driven Oil pressure warning light and warning buzzer comes on after driving approx 17 miles even though temperature guage is in normal range;people reckon...

First make certain you have sufficient oil.
Then check coolant level.
If both are OK, you may have a goofy sensor. The one in the expansion tank is particularly prone to cracking and giving weird readings.

What could be a reason for a truck overheating?

Most common problems are external coolant leaks (resulting in low coolant level), failed thermostat, blocked radiator (external or internal), electric fan not coming on, clutch fan inoperative. Other causes less frequent are: improper coolant/water concentration (should be 50/50), head gasket failure, transmission slipping or engine running excessively lean or a bad pressure cap.
One thing certain though....repeated overheat and continued driving in overheat condition will result in an expensive failure (blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head or crank bearing damage).
Carefully check each item I've listed and correct whatever it is you find, then resume using the vehicle.

My oil filter fell off my 2008 Camry SE, two months after an oil change. Ever heard of such a thing?

I just heard a similar issue this week. 2003 Rav4 went more than 500 miles after an oil change. It obviously isn't the person that changed your oil last (even though some people think so). If an oil filter is loose, it won't make it 50 miles, there is too much pressure. The oil will leak out quickly. For the car to go two months is obviously not a loose filter issue. Sounds like a spike in pressure was too much for the filter to hold. Good luck

2000 bmw x5 nav screen blank. radio works but no

I know this is an old thread, but my 2006 325i Nav screen went bank also, but the radio still played. I noticed the glove box light and trunk light did not turn on also. I was told from mechanics is was probably a CID module for $2200, even though I mentioned the glove box and trunk light light were out and specifically inquired about a fuse. The mechanics never checked the fuses, because I checked my fuses in the glove box and found the fuse 61 marked with a BMW symbol that looks like light bulb was blown. The Nav screen started back up once the fuse was changed.

Can a cooling fan be fiited to my 50inch philips plasma tv

yes to your ? i asume you have had the back off of this tv...there are 6-7 modules inside. the power supply is where you need to focus some attention. and yes plasma sets do overheat.try to find a way to attach 2 120mm fans to the heatsinks. then try to find a 12 volt source with a volt meter. attach the fans to that source and you are good to go. be carefull not to short or overload the power supply. or you will be spending 3-4 hundo for a new 1... good luck..

Rear Hatch and Tailgate Won't Open

After getting in earlier this morning and closing it while at the park, when we were done at the park, we went to open the rear hatch, and even though the electrical lock sounded normal, it would not release. Completely jammed.
