406 wont lock/unlock please help!!!

I have a 99 'v' 406 hdi90 and lost the only key about 6 months ago! i went to peugeot and paid around £200 for a key (without the R/C/L button) to be cut and programmed! the key worked fine of months until a few weeks ago when it wouldnt unlock! the key wouldnt turn in the lock! i wiggled it around for a second and it eventually opened! after that it was fine for a few days then happened again, this time not locking! again i wiggled it untill it decided to work again! the problem happened more and more frequently and now i cannot lock the car at all! please help!!!!!!! regards

Switch ignition ON.Press and hold lock button for 10 sec.Switch ign.Off.Remove key from ign. switch.Wait 5 sec.Sinchronization procedure complete.Confirm sinchronization has been successful by locking,double locking and unlocking vehicle. Repeat abuve procedure to sinchronize any remaining key.Good luck

Central Locking Issues on Peugeot 406 exec 2.2 hdi (2002)
Hi,just reading with interest" Ianhende's" problem with his 406, I have the same sort of problem with a 2002 406 hdi (110) i.e hazards going off,plus central locking turning on & off whilst driving. have replaced battery, the mechanic is thinking that it is to do with a faulty door lock, any ideas out there ???? Car doors wont lock with remote
Sounds like the rod that goes from the lock to the key came off. There is usually a little plastic clip that holds it together and they break and you get what you are experiencing. You have to take the inside panel off of the door to get inside it.

Hi, I am trying to manually unlock my Peugeot 406 but the key just spins in the lock. I've tried the other door but it is really stiff and will not unlock. Is there a simple solution?
They ise an anti theft system where the wrong key just spins, use a good maintenence spray (not WD40, it dries up too quick) 3in1 and duckhams duck oil are good, oil both locks and gently work them and hopfully you will be in!

My 1999 406 estate won,t lock. when you push the remote key it clicks to lock but clicks again to unlock on its own. please help
it sounds like one of your central locking motors has failed you need to unplug them one at a time and try it with each one unplugged

406 hdi pass door lock wont lock so car wont lock
Remove the door pannel and spray releasing oil over the central locking solinoid.That should sort it for you good luck.

I need to reset my peugeot 406 key fob
Had same trouble with my 406, fixing no problem, with new battery in fob, insert into ignition, turn key, BUT DO NOT START ENGINE, hold button for about 10 seconds release button and remove key from ignition, then try and see if doors lock on remote, if not try again, had to do this a couple of times, and it worked, sorry to say that now my key fob button has completely fell apart, through ware and tare

HI,THIS IS VERY COMMOM ON ALL PUGS AND CITRONS,TRY GOOD OLD WD40 SPRAYING ON THE KEY AND KEEP WORKING KEY IN/OUT OF LOCK,IT WILL START TO TURN LOCK WHEN ALL THE WORKS ARE CLEAN,THANKS.
