Same Problem-My 2006 GX470 won't start because key won't turn in ignition. I tried both keys and the same thing. AFter about 20 times of trying, I finally got it to work, but then happened again this morning. I have tried everything (take key in/out, turn steering wheel, lock/unlock car etc...) Has anyone found a solution?
Had the same issue with my wife's 2005 Lexus GX470. The issue is that the shifter is not in park (even though it seems it is). The other issue is that without the key turned, you can not move the shifter to neutral. If you look closely at the gear shift, on the left above the P (Park Symbol) there is a small rectangular box that has a **** on one side. Take a small screwdriver and lift the plastic cover which will reveal a button. With your foot on the brake, push the button with one hand and now you will be able to move the shifter to neutral with the other hand. Now, put it back in park and you should now be able to turn your key and start your car. Put the little piece of plastic you removed over the button and go on your way.
