Question about 2001 Subaru Outback

My remote won't unlock the doors to my 2001 subaru outback. Battery is good. I thought the sensor might be dirty but where is it?

Reset the system by removing both battery terminals
Hold the positive and negative together for 30 seconds
The. Reinstall both terminals
The system will re learn for the next 10 miles or so
If it happens again to the light

Subaru door locks sound like they are unlocking and locking but they aren't


Sounds has if you have a fault wrong with the Mechanism motor inside the door.?

It appears that the plastic clip on the door controls has broken . need to remove the door cover or trim card and repair/ replace clips . not verry expensive to buy

i have found on my 99 outback that if you disconnect the battery this happens usually all you have to do is use you remote door lock and unlock button a couple of times

I had my car battery replaced and now i open the door and the alarm goes off.


I have heard of this from various different car owners. One Mercedes owner didn't even know he had an alarm for 4 years. If you don't have the original key fob, you will have to get your solution from the nearest dealership. They can probably solve your problem over the phone. Good luck, my friend, Dana

Remote control for door locks do not work all the time. New battery in remote.


make sure the lock solonid on all the doors are working and have not become stiff if one of them get stuck all will not work

I think you have to have the key in the ignition, and set to "ON" with the driver door open and holding the unlock button down for several seconds. At least that works on my Forester.
