How would I reset my 2001 Grand Am Gt! The security light stays on when I turn it to on....and no gas is getting to the engine! So everyone says that I need to reset it! BUT DONT KNOW HOW TO?

You'll need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes.
Chances are there is a small leak in the EVAP system. Could be a valve or hose in addition to the gas cap.

The gas u put I'm the tank was high octain if it was it was making the engine fire to early replace the gas and it should wor properly

turn key on without starting engine, and press gas pedal to the floor 3 times quickly. start car. done

with the key in the on position, locate the reset button in the drivers side fuse panel,pess the button when the oil light blinks press again, should stop blinking and the chimes will stop, hope this helps

fuel pump may be out but you have to drop the tank to fix it

when key on and engine off, does the security light flash constantly? if so its shutting down the fuel pump, it starts momentarily due to the computer priming the engine with fuel. how to reset, turn key to run position, leave it on touch nothing, takes 10-12 minutes, start watching light around 10 minutes. it will stop flashing... turn key off, then back on and start this will reset the security system. they are sensitive on this platform car it will happen again. good luck!

Answer The "change oil" light on a 2001 Grand Prix is reset by pressing the gas pedal three times while the vehicle is in "accessory" mode:

1. Turn the car off.
2. Place the ignition key in the "on" position, without starting the car. That is, turn the key forward to the place right before it fires the engine.
3. Place your foot on the gas pedal and press it all the way down three times, waiting approximately one second between presses.

If done correctly, the "change oil" light will flash repeatedly, and will then reset.

Please note that it is rare to do this successfully on the first try; if it does not work, turn the car off and try the procedure again, varying the wait slightly between pedal presses at each attempt

Most likely a problem with your Passlock security system. Everyone who owns a 2001 or 2002 Grand Am seems to have an issue with this sooner or later. In a nutshell, the car thinks you are trying to steal it and shuts off the fuel injectors. I tried everything, but ended up opening up the dashboard and cutting the wires to the Passlock system. It was actually really simple and have not had the issue since...I cut the wires two years ago. Google it and I'm sure you'll have no problem finding the directions on which wires to cut. Someone actually stumbled on the solution when they called GM to see how to install a remote starter in their Grand Am.

if you turn the key in the ignition to the on position for 10 minutes it will reset your security light.
I know it sounds funny but trust me it works. try this first! Before you go and spend any money.
