Look online for diagnostic sequence to get closer to problem. This is a common problem with several fixes. I have a 2000 ZR2 with 205,000 miles in Michigan also that has had several issues. The aluminum wire from front to back has been a challenge also.

I had the same problem with my blazer. Light would just blink and not shift into any 4x4 mode. On my blazer there was a vacume hose disconnected on the center of the firewall near thhe top. I plugged it back in and I had my 4x4 back after 3 years.

If it's like any other Blazer, a possible simple fix is to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes. That resets the computer system. It worked for my Blazer. I had the same problem. Mine went into low range, but my front axle wouldn't engage. So give it a try. The only thing you'll mess up is the clock in the radio.

Noise in front end 2002 zr2 blazer

Two things maybe your problem:1 .Front axle actuator to engage 4wd is not releasing. 2. Front axle u-joint needs replacing. Lift car on jacks with front end off ground. Then spin tires by hand as fast as you can and see if you hear the noise and where it is coming from ( spin in both directions).

2000 blazer zr2 won't go into 4wd drive when i push the button

there is a vacuum actuator under the battery tray. it is the most common cause for this issue. also the cable that goes from that actuator to the differential stretches sometimes causing it to engage and not engage depending on how bad it is.

if you have any more question please ask/

On my 2000 chevy S10 blazer, when I push the 4HI button, the 4HI and 4LO buttons flash a yellow light and it won't shift to 4WD, stays in 2HI and the light in the 2HI button is on yellow......I hear...

vacuum leak or vacuum locker solenoid problem. a great way to check for both is to remove both vacuum lines from the solenoid (located on firewall above destributor), and put a connector between them, push the button on the dash and see if it locks in.

4wd not engaging

These trucks are famous for the transfer case control module failing
and causing problems like you are experiencing. The module is
usually located in the passenger foot well kick panel. You should
be able to find it easy since that is what is making the clicking noise
when you try to go into 4x4. When you find it-unplug the 2 connectors
and looks for green corrosion on the terminals in the plug and also on
the module. They are famous for water intrusion thru the heater system. If you find corrosion, terminals in the connectors will need to
be replaced as well as a new module(they are expensive).
