You may need to have your battery checked. A weak battery will cause clicking when the key is turned. Many auto parts stores will test your battery for dead cells for free.
Probably your security system: PassKey I, and II Similar to the VATS system, these vehicles also used a pellet key. You can identify this system by looking at the key. It has a black resistor pellet with a thin metal edge running along the key. The system enables the starter, but shuts down the injectors after initial startup. So the vehicle would start, then die. This system has a "relearn" feature. It was used on these vehicles

Is the security light coming on? Are you using the factory key with pellet inside? Do you have another factory key you can try?
The security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars/years. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , it was the only thing that saved my 94 Park Avenue that has the same security system.
malfunction with security system, wait 15 min. when this happens to see if it will start.the car should not run with this light on.there was probably nothing wrong with the fuel pump last yr.
Disconnect your battery (make sure you know radio security code if you have one) Unbolt starter, lower it and remove wires. Some twisting and turning may be required to get it out. Reverse process to install.
sounds like if u have an alarm system that it is engaged while you are trying to start the vehicle causein shut down of ignition and or a bad chip in your key
