My 2005 Chevy Impala's power stearing problem?

My 2005 Chevy Impala's power stearing started acting messed up after I ran over a pot hole. Shortly after hitting the pot hole while trying to turn the car the wheel became very hard to turn, the lights on the dash dimmed, then after getting it in the direction I needed it to be in and hitting the gas the lights got brighter and it was fine. It happened again turning into the parking lot but not as bad. What could be wrong?

From the sounds of it, that pothole messed up your steering. Something is binding in the steering train, could be a damaged tie rod end, one of the other steering joints, or even the rack and pinion steering itsself. When it's binding, the power steering pump has to work too hard, slowing the engine down, making your lights dim because it's also slowing the alternator(on the same belt drive) and furthering your steering problem. You need to get it checked out immediately before something breaks and gets you into an accident. Remember, if steering linkage breaks, you have NO control of your vehicle, and it doesn't care if you're driving 70 mph on the highway.

Head gaskets blown or cracked head. It only takes 1 time of running hot to cause damage as the heads are aluminum and the blocks is iron.

2002 Chevy Impala, the back end slides to the right when driving

Your shocks are probably blown. You can tell this by looking at the tell tell signs of the fluid stains coming from the top inside of shocks onto the outside of the lower part.

Hi, There are two types of fuse boxes on the Chevy 2000-2005.

An internal one and an exterior one. If you go to the relevant web site, you can watch a tutorial.

I hope this helps.

Easiest way to add power stearing fluid to a 2001 chevy impala v6 ??

Locate the cap to the power steering fluid reservoir
bc25493.jpg Remove cap and fill reservoir with GM Power Steering Fluid (P/N 89021184) or any fluid a knowledgeable parts department says is compatible. It may not look like much but there are a few dozen steering fluids available out there and lots of systems aren't compatible with many of them (wrong fluid will disintegrate seals, pumps, etc...)
