What is the correct firing order for a chevy 1989 5.7 engine on the distrbutor cap

All the diagrams I see for the 3.9 show the same. However, some show a 60 degree advance in orientation of the cap, i.e. the number 1 position is at number 2. Try moving the wires counter clockwise one position.

If you began with a non running engine, I suggest you manually bar over the crankshaft until cylinder 1 is at TDC of the compression stroke. Then remove the distributor cap. The rotor should be pointing directly at distributor tower number 1 position.

go google and type in ---firing for chev engines --and there are pages of all chev engines firing orders with the direction of rotation of the distributor.

Hi, If you look very carefully you will see the numbers on the distributor cap. Line them up with the right plug. Firing order 1,2,3,4,5,6. right side (passenger) 1,3,5 Left side (driver) 2,4,6

Number one on the cap is anywhere you want to start number one. As long as the firing order is in the correct order.

Try this diagram out and hopefully it will help you out.

drivers side is 1357,pass side is 2468, firing order is 18436572,number one on dis. cap is front rightside if you can start with 1, on cap the firing order on cap is like that 1 then number 8 is last pass back,go around cap most firing orders are on intake above the plug,hope this helps you, thanks robert b.

make sure u have the wires in the correct spots, there is a firing order, u need to have them in the right spots or else it wont fire, call ur local parts store and they will give u the firing order

Since it has a distributor and it's a corvette I'm going to assume it's an old school small block Chevy.

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2 cyls. # 1-3-5 on drivers side front to back and cyls. # 2-4-6 passenger side front to back.
