Remove the ac delco pf 47 oil filter and clean off where the gasket seats to the housing. Replace the pf47 oil filter do not overtighten! You may have left the old oil filter seal on the filter housing and that will result in a big leak. Kicknbutts answer is wrong as this car does not have a timing belt. LOL....!!!

When you remove the timing cover you will see that the seals for the front balancer is no longer in the block, it has popped out and is spinning around with the front balacer shaft.
There is a huge opening where the seal should be and oil comes out rapidly.
The timing belt should be replaced because the oil will cause it to break before it should

tip

How to change your oil in 3 easy steps

(1) Getting Ready When getting ready, it is important to have the right tools and materials on hand, such as jack stands, a socket set and an oil drain pan. Let your Car engine run for 10 minutes before you drain the oil since warm oil is easier to drain than cold. Make sure you park on a level surface or, if your car has a low clearance, jack it up or drive it onto a ramp. If youre jacking up the car, use two jack stands instead of one. check the type of filter you need against the make and model of your vehicle

(2) Draining the Oil and Changing the Oil Filter To drain the oil, crawl under the car and look for the oil drain plug under the engine near the front of the car. Position your pan beneath the plug then use a socket or spanner to loosen the plug, turning counterclockwise. Once loosened, you can use your hand to remove the plug and the hot oil starts pouring out. Make sure all the old oil is drained into the pan. Once its completely drained, wipe the drain plug and the plug opening. Now replace the drain plug gasket and use a wrench to reinstall the plug but dont make it too tight.

Next, look for the oil filter. They are usually at the side of the engine. Place the oil pan beneath the filter in case any oil remains. Unscrew the oil filter (use gloves if it is too hot) and wipe the filter area clean, especially where it mounts to the engine. Dab a bit of your new oil on the rubber seal of the new filter and then screw it in by hand. You dont have to use a filter wrench to tighten the oil filter.

(3) Installing New Oil Remove the oil filler cap thats located at the top of the engine. Position the funnel at the opening and slowly start pouring in the new oil You might want to check your manual for the proper oil capacity but, typically, you will need three or four litres of oil. Once youre done, put back the oil filler cap. Start the engine, let it run for a minute and then check the dipstick. If you need to, add more oil. Now check for any leaks near the oil drain plug and the filter. If you do find leaks, simply tighten the plug or oil filter.

Youre done.

How to do a oil change

Pull the drain plug, change the oil filter, replace the drain plug. Add oil until the dipstick reads full. Start the engine and make sure the oil light goes out. Check for leaks around the oil filter with the car running. Recheck the oil level, add as necessary. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. When to change the engine oil

Manufacturers have been changing recommendations to make their vehicles appear to be better than others but bottom line on oil changes is that it's still best to change it every 3,000 miles. You can extend that to 4,000 if you use a quality synthetic. Always use a name brand good quality oil...cheaper oils have a high paraffin base that causes sludge deposits to form. I'd be using a 20w 30 or 40 oil in that engine. Always use a good name brand filter as well. Keeping the oil clean is very important. A poor quality filter allows larger particles to remain in the oil. Those particles are like sandpaper and are the primary source of engine wear. After completing the job, always run the engine and look under the car for leaks. A loose drain plug, forgotten plug gasket or an accidentally double gasketed filter can really ruin your day if not caught early.

How do you do a oil change on a 2005 dodge neon sxt

After getting all oil,oil filter and oil catch pan if I havent bought one, I warm my vehicle for a few min to get teh oil flowable. then raise the front end and locate the drain plug on the oil pan. Place an oil catch pan (5-8.00 @ most stores) under the oil pan and carefully remove the drain plug. I then lower the vehicle and wait till all oil is removed. Raise the vehicle tehn replace oil drain plug and tighten, careful not to over tighten, then slid the oil catch pan under the oil filter and remove the oil filer, some oil will spill here so rubber gloves and papper towels come in handy for this part. Lay the old oil filter on the oil catch pan to allow the old oil to drain while relacing with new oil filter. I rub a thin film of oil on the rubber seal of the oil filter before threading back onto the engine. lower vehicle and add new oil as needed. start vehicel then check for any leaks then shut off engine and check oil level and add more if needed. I then poor the oil oil in the empty oil container so I can drop off at wal mart or other oil recycling center.

I need to change the oil and filter. What size is

Make sure your car is off and cool (cannot have been running for the last hour as the oil will burn)

Owner's manual will say exactly what oil and oil filter to use. Most stores have cross reference sheets as well

You'll need a socket wrench with an adapter for the oil filter and an adapter for the drain plug
You could get an oil filter strap as well instead of the adapter.
Your filter will be located on the bottom of the engine, either on the front or back of it

Remove the filler cap on the top of the engine....

Put a drain tray under the drain pan and remove the drain plug (it will leak oil out as you're loosening it). Do not lose the drain plug as you'll be using it still. Check plug to see if there's any extra metal on it (ie. engine parts are grinding) Let drain and then repeat for oil filter.

Once completely drained, put the plug back in and then poor a bit of oil into the oil filter and then reinstall the filter. Pour the required amount of oil in through the top of the engine and close the cap....

How do i change the oil?

jack the car and support it on jackstands. put a can or oil catcher under the oil drain plug then loosen but do not remove the plug. slowly start to remove the plug letting oil drain out . when all the oil is drained remove the filter using a filter wrench available at most auto stores for under $10. hand tighten the new filter acoring to the instructions on the filter then replace the drain plug. Now add up to the specified litres of oil and check under the car/truck for leaks around the drainplug and filter. now you are done
