They are in the exhaust system. one upstream that controls fuel mixture and one downstream that reports on oxygen content in exhaust to report emissions failure. Is check engine light on?
If not, why would you change it?
Yes, car started "sputtering" and progressively got worse until the "check engine" light came on. Took it to Autozone, and they hooked it up to their "machine". The reading said it was running "too rich", and that it could be due to a bad oxygen sensor or map sensor. My husband isn't super "mechanically inclined" as far as cars are concerned, but he's been told that the oxygen sensor is something he could probably change on his own. Not sure about the map sensor....
