The belt is loose. This is one of the first signs for the belt change.

Why grand vitara wont start? turns but does not fire

2.5L engine? v6.
you broke it , didnt you.
the 2.5L has no belt so its not 2.5L , 2.5L is CHAIN,(i own one same year)
must be a 4 cylinder engine??
and G16>
world wide GV have these engines
1.6 L G16B I4 (petrol)
2.0 L J20A I4 (petrol)
2.5 L H25A V6 (petrol)
2.0 L RF/RFM I4 (diesel)
2.0 L RHW/RHZ I4 (diesel)

only the 1.6BL gas has a belt.
lucky for you its not an INTERFERENCE engine or boom.
I also have A G16 suzuki and know how to time it.
the G16, must be cam timed at #4 cylinder firing, never #1
this is stated in the gates belt page, the FSM and alldata.com
and here.

after changing the belt , i always check that i have my 170psi
compression back (wideopen throttle) or its all just a waste of time.

its not the CKP unplugged, as this engine runs with out one.
fact.
here are all G16b steps.
and nice photos. and the false marks, that is correct, suzuki
gawd love em. uses the cogs on 2 engines. 3cyl and 4cyl.

all pitfalls are here. every one.

Mazda protege makes a squeaking noise when I start driving?

If your Mazda Tribute's engine has a rumbling noise when you start it, this is most likely from the drive belt. You will need to replace it.

I am experiencing a squeaking noise from infront near the fan belt area. when i accelerate,it gets louder. I discovered that the power steering pump is leaking ,so i topped up the reservoir and it stopped...

i have a similar problem. a squeaking noise, sounds when i start the engine, and when i stop the engine. at times it comes when the engine is running and idle, and it lasts some time like a high pitched whistle. Ive had several mechanics look at it, and it seem to be one of the smaller pulleys that the belts run around. in the 2002 model (petrol) of the crv the belts are not the cam belts, becuase this model has a cam chain (much more robust!). so they all said its nothing to worry about. you can try having your pulley replaced.

Do i need lock tool to change cam belt on a 03 grand vitara

I'd be first confirming whether you have a 1.6 litre Grand Vitara (petrol), or a 2 litre turbo diesel. The 2 litre petrol (straight 4 or V6) or 2.5 litre petrol engines are all chain drive.
If your engine is petrol then no lock tool is required (to hold the camshaft). Of course, there is a specific position that an engine should be rotated too before removing the belt from ANY engine.
If it's diesel, then although I'm unfamilar with that particular engine, the general requirement for diesel engines with high pressure injection pumps is "yes, you require a lock tool" to hold the injection pump pulley. As I think these are a common rail set-up, this requirement may not be necessary. Check with your Suzuki Dealer, or maybe someone else here will know more. A similar question may have already been asked and answered here too.

Engine management light on ,suzuki grand vitara 2 litre turbo diesel, engine feels slugish

Take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for any fault codes stored. The check engine light is to alert you that the computer has noted a fault in one of the car's systems. Getting the codes will show what the computer has noted and curb the need for speculation. Most parts stores will perform the scan for free. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Screeching sound at the back of engine at the top of head

Check all the bolts and fastenings for the heat shrouds around the exhaust manifold to make sure they are there (and firm). If you can undo them without snapping them, take the shrouds off to check for gravel trapped in that area. It could also be a failing cat converter, but a lot less likely. My next step would be to remove the rocker cover and have a look......
