If theyre both the 1.5 liters then theyre not the B16s. They should match up bots wise. The real problem youll hit is wiring harness issues. They might not match up.

How replace a vetchsolonide on 2000 Honda civic

It is quite simple to replace the VTEC Solenoid assembly. It is located on the rear right upper side of cylinder head (right side with reference with if sitting if driver's seat) on the intake side. It is attached to the head by means of 6mm bolts. Just remove the connector (NOTE: It my have single VTEC solnoid or two, depending on the model), remove the bolts and take out the solenoid. 1997 honda civc 4 trouble codes po301,po302'po303'po304

All cyls misfiring. 97 honda. How many miles?Sounds like plug wires or a wet distributor cap. Yet if it is a Vtec The misfires could be occurring after the cams engage. Possible VTEC solenoid issue.

1996 Honda Civic

What the previous owner told you could be correct(that is 33mpg), B16A1 Vtec engine were made for power and fuel efficiency. Your clutch upgrade would not affect your fuel consumption unless you feel anything slipping during acceleration. I say you give your engine a good tune up and compare the milage again.
