When you open up the drivers side door there should be a panel right on the end of the dashboard. Pull it open and look there. I generally have the fuse diagrams but can't seem to find it for your car. It might be written on the inside of the panel you pull off. You should also have the diagram inside of your book you got with the car unless someone took it out. Look in your glove box it might be there.

How do I change the signal light flasher on a 1997 pontiac sunfire

Should be located on the fuse block under dash. Simple pull out and push in new one. Buy a new one first in you don't know what it looks like. Note: there are two similar parts; one for 4 way hazard lamps, one for turn signals.

Need diagram for timming to set on 1998 2.2 4cyl

Hello Jm_green.

In 1998 the 2.2 Sunfire has no way to set ignition timing.
Timing is set by reading crankshaft position (not adjustable) and that signal is sent to the computer which in turn signals the ignition module when to fire the coils.

Just in case you are talking about changing the timing gears, here is a diagram.

I cannot find the flasher on a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire. Is there a diagram or do I need to take things apart?

May be under the hood.... to find it turn the key on, engine off , use the signals and listen for any clicking sound. if not then look for a relay box under the hood. Check above the fuse panel, you may have to lie on your back and put your head there to see it..... Good practice for being a contortion artist!
